“The more i look at ul tents ...the more i see limits. airflow space non freestanding and 90% use poles.what if i want take a short hike from camp in the rain up hill?should i have to go without?” 8:20:45 PM 7/27/07 “Black Diamond Megalite.” 3:11:58 AM 7/28/07 “i own a few tarptents but have gone mostly tarp these last few years. the tarptent was sort of a transition shelter for me. but when i used them i loved them. as far as airflow is concerned, a tarptent really isn't that different from a regular tent. in fact i would argue that it's better ventilated... just single wall and made with a fabric that doesn't breathe. they tend to have as much or more space than a tent of similar capacity. the tarptent rainbow is freestanding. other models are not. if you don't want to use your trekking pole (most models only use one) then don't. use a stick or use the pole that comes with the tent. using a trekking pole is just an option.” 7:36:13 AM 7/28/07
