Because transportation budgets in this state are a joke. The last two budgeting sessions saw no increase in funds while the roads are deteriorating horribly! Two years ago it was the Republican gov. Tim Pawlenty and legislature. This year it was Dems trying to pass gas taxes and other measures, which Pawlenty vetoed.

It will be interesting to hear if that has anything to do with this tragedy. KSTP out of the Cities is saying Pawlenty plans to visit.”
