“Iraqi Child Held, Dems Cry Foul


BAGHDAD - U.S. troops at the 28th Combat Support Hospital are caring for a nine-month-old Iraqi child found in a garbage can. Police found the child named Fatima, malnourished and suffering from dehydration in Iraq's scorching summer heat, hidden under rubbish in one of southern Baghdad's most violent districts.


Upon hearing reports that U.S. forces were holding the child, Democrats in this country angrily denounced the Bush administration, saying this situation "makes Abu Ghraib look like Sesame Street." In a hastily-called news conference, Senator Harry Reid (D-Nev) told reporters, "Our troops are now even imprisoning and torturing little children. Bush has gone too far." On Good Morning America, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) tearfully called for "all children to be protected, especially from U.S. armed forces."


Comment: The fact U.S. soldiers have obviously run out of Iraqi adults to brutalize and are now torturing small children is shocking and sad. I suggest we make little Fatima a symbol of U.S. aggression, and maybe put her picture on a stamp or something.
