I swear the media was so disappointed when Dean got down graded. They had to have been hoping for a storm of the century. CNN was even calling itself "Hurricane Central". LOL!

I thought it was a Cat 5 when it hit the Yucatan Peninsula this morning or did I miss something?

I like how Bush is going out of his way to extend help to Mexico, just when he's working on trade relations.

That's not all that surprising. They always loose their power after they go inland. Any word on storm damage?

Far as I can tell it's just your basic carnage.

"Downed power lines and damaged buildings were reported in Mexico and northern Belize, but no casualties."

That's actually kind of amazing.

Not much damage, because they were afraid FEMA would show up.

100,000 dead....luckily the United States is willing to send them some replacements (LOL)....

Nah a week ago I laughed "Luckily they already evacuated to the US" and it is an unpopulated area.

Right now I am listening to the talking heads almost PRAYING it will regather strength.

Immigration issues asside I feel for those poor people. They just had the wrath of god rool over them. I know however that they will bounce back. I visited Cozumel on a cruise 6 months after Wilma and the work going on to make repairs were unbelieveable. Cooks, maids, housekeepers, shopowners all pitched in and labored to get things back in order. Visited the Yucatan again last year and nearly all signs of a storm were gone.
