Low Gap Trail Indiana - Last minute

“There are a few of us going to hike Low Gap trail this weekend. If anyone else is interested in joining us, e-mail me and I will send more info.””

“The deal is that I'm only allowed to wear a thong and patches over both my eyes, and Windi is going to wear iceskates. Coyote is doing it on his hands.”

“Coyote and I are going to take care of caching water on Saturday morning before we all meet up. There might be some water at the creek crossing, but we aren't going to count on it.”

We were talking about changing the trail and doing some of the Tecumseh trail. We were talking about hiking to the shelter, but it was going to make things too difficult for everyones time frame. So we are sticking with Low Gap at this point.”

“Sounds like we are hiking counterclockwise Thrifty, if you feel like joining us for a short distance.”

“we'll probably hike in, in the opposite directing on sunday morning till we meet up with ya and then hike out with ya

where you starting and camping?”

“Yeah, we will be hiking Countclockwise. Depending on what time you are starting you could either, hike clockwise till you meet up with us, or you can park at the back country parking where meangreen is coming in at and hike in there (it's about a mile to where we will be camping) and meet us at the campsite, then continue hiking from there. Someone will be taking him back to his car, so we could take you as well. Just let me know which you are doing.

“If we hike counter clockwise does it take less time. Will we be technically going back in time if we do that? I don't want to cause a rift in the space time continuem.”

“Yes Stomper. It's both faster, and we actually travel back in time. It's like flying from Tokyo to Honolulu. You leave in the afternoon on the tenth, and arrive on the morning of the ninth. Pretty cool stuff.”

“Stomper, you should know that if theres a faster way I can hike, I'm going to take it. I need all the help I can get. lol.

BTW if you hear me scream it means I wandered off the trail and fell down the bluff just before you go down into the creek bottom to the campsites. Do a Meanie a favor and come find me ok?”

“no but I am coming in in the pitch dark. I wont make it to camp till about 1000pm or a little later. You will already be 3 sheets to the wind by the time I get there, or at least 2. LOL!”

BTW, I decided to go. I'm coming in on 37 North. I need directions from there to the Morgan Monroe Forest Office.

Coming through Evansville saves me about 30 miles but there will be a lot of two way traffice.”

“Take 37 north till you come to a sign that says Morgan Monroe Forest. Turn right. Follow the signs to the Forest office. It's on Main Forest Road. We will wait for you!”

“Sounds to easy.”

“here's more detail, just in case...
Turn off 37 at the sign that says Morgan-Monroe State Forest. Go 0.6 mile to Old State Road 37 turn right. Go 1.7 milesto the Main Forest Road and turn left. You will be entering the Morgan-Monroe State Forest. Go ~6 miles and the Forest office will be on the left. See ya in the parking lot.”

I'm sorry Stompy. You know I love ya, I just thought you had been given a new name and no one bothered to tell me. I'm always the last one to find out about stuff like that. I'm SUPER light for this one. Almost as light as I could possibly be. No cooking gear, little food. He11 I've even stripped my pack lid, and may loose the belt padding while I'm at lunch. I'm gonna fly tomorrow. WOO HOO!!!”

“Would you like us to leave glow sticks along the trail for you?”

“nah. It's not that far in, and the trail is really plain as I remember. If you hear me woot, just make some noise back, and if you hear a whistle, please come looking. LOL! I will be fine. We used to sprint through the woods at night with no lights when I was in high school. We'll see if I still have a sixth sense for where the trees are, or if it ends up being more like a George of the Jungle type thing. LOL!”

“There will be glow stick on the trail, just pick them up on your way in.”
