Kamper & I are heading to Boise for a couple of days to celebrate my brothers birthday.
Anything we shouldn't miss? Can't miss? We're going out there this weekend.
Thanks.
P.S. How y'all been?

When are you going to be in Boise? What kind of things are you interested in, and what kind of time do you have? Some possibilities are:

day hikes
scenic drives (specify how many hours you want to drive)
walks in town
fly fishing
mtn bike riding
road bike riding
tour train of historic houses
overnight backpacks
eateries (specify type, Mexican, Thai, etc)
drinkeries (specify type: micro brewery, live entertainment, etc.)
entertainment
river rafting
soak in hot springs

other than those things, there is not much to do in Boise.

For in-town activities, walking the greenbelt is a nice pasttime. There is a paved path on either side of the Boise River all the way through town, and for many miles east and west of town. Walk as far as you like on either side.

I don't know much about the bar scene, but some names I've heard are the Big Easy, Bardone (nice Basque bar), Bar Guernica (another Basque cafe) distills their own booze. Moon's Cafe on Bannock between 8th and 9th is a local landmark, and is a great cafe of the greasy spoon and milkshake variety. Its a hole in the wall, but full of character, and the food is not bad. Tablerock brew pub is a nice micro-brewery.

For breakfast try Goldies, or the Trolley House on Warm Sorings. No kidding, the tour train is not a bad excursion for an hour or so. Its a train engine that pulls several open air cars with passengers around some of the historic districts of Boise, and the guide has info about Boise history. The old Penetentiary on Warm Springs is also worth a visit for about an hour.

A great short walk is from the old Penetentiary up to Table Rock, the hill where the lighted cross is. It takes an hour round trip, and is best done in the cool of the morning or evening.
