Also, I believe that man-made global warming is a bunch of hooey.

That does not mean that I'm not an environmentalist. It just means the global warming is poppy-cock.

It is my opinion that a REAL danger that the world faces is the disappearance of the ocean's sea-life. In fact, I'd classify it as the most imminent, dangerous situation of the history of the planet. We (humans) are destroying the ecosystem of the ocean and we have to put an immediate stop to it VERY VERY soon or it will destroy not only ocean life, but possibly a vast majority of land-based life.

We need to focus on improved technologies for fish and plant farming to save the life on this planet ... and this is no joke.

1- biodiversity decrease (including ocean-life), the projected 9 billion humans in 2050 will live in a lonely world devoid of more than a mere few relic specimens of many of our icons of other life

2- the immminent arrival of peak oil/soil/water/phosphorous and therefore peak technology/civilization(peak phosphorous is the biggest problem of all, believe it or not), these peaks will greatly affect the world's ability to grow food

3- another far down the list in importance is human caused climate change, but it is happening and would get very bad except all these other conditions will necessitate a severe reduction in human numbers (not by choice) and consumption which is the only secular hope for the world.

You deniers act like if you can just sqelch the issue of climate change then the other bigger problems will just go away.

They are making OBSERVATIONS, drawing Hypothesis and then when they test them ...OOOPS we find they have CHANGED the Hypotehsis to fit the results or have altered the information (NASA REPORT) sorry their models are not reverse testable (i.e. you cannot take the model run it out 50 years and turn around and run it back 80 years and get accurate information)

There is no sustainable free-ride beyond the limits of the 'natural gain'.

A finite renewable-sustainable harvest of the bounty of healthy waters can be harvested by people, but there's not a way to exceed that limit without degrading the resource.

We are back to the issue of number of people in the world. The 'natural gain' achieved thru benign ocean harvesting, thru the natural gain from organic farming technigues using heirloom seed, thru the 'natural gain' from grazing a limited number of domestic livestock on the forage of the world and harvesting a limited number of the world's wildlife for meat was proven in antiquity to be an amount sufficient to feed only 1/10th. to 1/20th. the number of humans that are in the world now.

The temporary injection of fossil fuels, fossil water, synthetic fertilizers and pesticides resulting in the ongoing destruction of the world's croplands, pasture and forests is the only reason human numbers have managed to achieve the current, ephemeral (lasting a short season) number.

US Attorney Resigns Following Conyers’ Request for BBC Documents

Tim Griffin, formerly right hand man to Karl Rove, resigned Thursday as US Attorney for Arkansas hours after BBC Television ‘Newsnight’ reported that Congressman John Conyers requested the network’s evidence on Griffin’s involvement in ‘caging voters.’ Greg Palast, reporting for BBC Newsnight, obtained a series of confidential emails from the 2004 Bush-Cheney campaign. In these emails, Griffin, then the GOP Deputy Communications Director, transmitted so-called ‘caging lists’ of voters to state party leaders.

Experts have concluded the caging lists were designed for a mass challenge of voters’ right to cast ballots. The caging lists were heavily weighted with minority voters including homeless individuals, students and soldiers sent overseas.

Conyers, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee investigating the firing of US Attorneys, met Thursday evening in New York with Palast. After reviewing key documents, Conyers stated that, despite Griffin’s resignation, “We’re not through with him by any means.”

Conyers indicated to the BBC that he thought it unlikely that Griffin could carry out this massive ‘caging’ operation without the knowledge of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Rove.

Griffin has not responded to requests by BBC to explain this 'caging' operation. However, in emails subpoenaed by Conyers' committee, Griffin complains to Monica Goodling, an assistant to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, about the BBC reporter's reproduction of caging lists in Palast's book, "Armed Madhouse."

In the email dated February 5 of this year, Griffin stated that the purpose of 'caging' was to identify "fraudulent" voters. This contradicts one explanation of the Bush campaign to BBC that the lists were of potential donors and not in any way created to challenge voters.

Griffin confidentially wrote: "The real story is this: There were thousands of reported illegal/fake voter registrations around the country, so some of the Republican State Parties mailed letters welcoming new voters to the newly registered voters. … The Republican State Parties ultimately wanted to show that thousands of fraudulent registrations had been completed."

Last Wednesday, Goodling testified under a grant of immunity before the House Judiciary Committee that Gonzales' Deputy Paul McNulty, "failed to disclose that he had some knowledge of allegations that Tim Griffin had been involved in vote 'caging' during his work on the President's 2004 campaign."

Goodling's testimony prompted Conyers' request to the BBC for the Griffin emails.

Last night Palast showed Conyers a Griffin email from August 2004 indicating that Griffin not only knew of 'caging,' but directed the operation.
