I am too tired (lazy?) to copy and post this all here again. Check this thread, which includes photos:

WOW...yeah we are hearing about it...I am just wondering why we don't hear the HORROR stories ..maybe because the midwesterners are a self sufficient proud lot.

Good luck let us know if we can help.

Looks like terrible flooding. We get lots of floods in PA. and the last few years we've had severe damage from floods.

Tornado sirens went off in parts of Northwest Indiana.

Tornado was confirmed on the ground in Bolingbrook IL.

I got up to go to the bathroom and it was partial ly cloudy. Got in the head and the lights flickered and the walls started shaking. I thought someone was trapped in the ceiling. I got out and noticed cicular wind patterns blowing trash all over the place. Thought for sure the alarms would be going off.

Train service out to far western communities has been terminated for the evening. Trees down everywhere.

Gotta love it!

This weather is really getting to me, being on edge all the time really really SUCKS. I'm begining to hate that tornado siren....I should of put our bug out bags in the car before work. Not sure if we will be making it home tonight.

The sky has an errie cast, as I look out my 5th story office windows, I face the direction the storms are coming from....there are no lights in the city around the hospital, making it even more errie. Its only seven, and as dark as midnight with a odd cast to the clouds which seem to be boiling and rolling, in the distance I can see the second round, lighting, darkness, anger....

A funnel cloud went right over the hospital here, they did not call a code grey like they are supposed to because they 'didn't want to scare the paitients' instead they covered the windows with drapes and moved some into hallways....lightning struck the front entrence area of our building.....

Three counties just declared Federal Disaster Areas here in MN: Houston, Winona and Fillmore (my county - and home to badly flooded Rushford)

TV news said homeowners could get up to $28,000 depending upon damage plus low interest loans. Small bizes have to go to state. I heard 98 percent have been damaged in Rushford since it was the downtown that flooded. They don't know how many will continue.

The Rushford newspaper guy is setting up shop in one of our five offices, that we were just gonna close Sept. 1, but rented for another month. Cities can apply for flood mitigation.

Hey, SC, where are ya???

wounded knee...I have been struck by lightening only it knocked me to the ground and out cold for a few seconds...I didn't know what had hit me...witnesses told me they had seen a bolt hit a TV antennae then a much smaller bolt bounce to the tip of my umbrella...you were lucky and way too close as that's what being near a strike feels like...

Nicole, where did the water come from? Is the house near the river and if so, did it over flow?

Or did it come in through the sewage system?

it came through the basement and the street.

Hate to say this Nicole but I bet the flood insurance doesn't cover.

This happened last year in Highland when everyone's basement flooded, including the people that had flood insurance. I bet the insurance company clasifies this are stormwater/sewage/sepage.

I did some scouting around here in daylight..wanted to make sure the road was passable to work today. Lots of houses and yards flooded around here, but I didn't pull over to take pictures, it just didnt feel right. Did take some pictures of burns ditch though, and some water covering county line road.

The water was flowing over the road in this picture though it doesnt look like it here, I was able to barely get through it, the next one I had to turn around, they'd closed the road.

Here's the road I was worried about:

This is my way out of here.

Lots of water...

people's houses along here are flooded.

"In Dyer, Ind., 30 miles south of Chicago, authorities began evacuating St. Margaret Mercy Hospital as water from a creek behind the building began seeping in. About 70 patients were being moved to other hospitals, spokeswoman Maria Ramos said."

I sometimes work at this one, when they need me and are short handed, but usually at the one in hammond.....YIKES!

i called a co-worker to confirm this, and yes, though the artical only breifly touches on it, the hospital was a mess, they had to evacuate the paitients through the only dry area on the first floor, and the workers had to wade through muddy filthy water to get the paitients out of there.....what a mess....
