LBL -- Jenny Ridge to Dead Beaver Camp

Yesterday..
Yesterday I drove over to LBL. Frankly I just needed a day out of the house. Stopped at LittleGeneral for cigs, picked up a bag of ice and let it thaw some in the back seat.

LBL is a shorter drive than my usual backpack trips and even my day trips. To the best of my memory, I'd never hiked it.

Found the visitor's center, got a map, found Jenny Ridge. Hit the N/S and decided to try for 6.2 (which is the second spring.)

The ground is easy terrain, bordering a creek (which was bone dry of course.). I did see one stand of (insert dirty swamp water word here) but even the spring at dead beaver camp was dry also.

Truthfully, I stopped at the bridge 0.8 shy of the camp. The second spring as I mentioned earlier was still another 3.9. Now before you do the math -- here it is for you:

Jenny Ridge to N/S intersection. 1.6 I think. So double it for the trip back and add the posted 3.7 or whatever at the junction. Double that also of course. 3.2 + 7.4 = a decent 10 mile hike anyway you look at it.

My math is horrible, and I would have to pick the map up again to get the numbers right, but you get the idea. Well, back to breakfast. The trail would be a lot different if there WERE some water in the gullies.

Sounds real nice. What state or country were you in? I grasp that you went for a hike, maybe with someone called "Jenny Ridge" and you saw a dead beaver in a camp!
However, please identify:
LBL
Jenny Ridge
N/S (Please leave my name out of this!)
6.2 (Sounds like your hat size.)
dead beaver camp
"I think" - Please limit yourself to the facts. Don't confuse us further with any of your brain waves!

"Well, back to breakfast." Oops, sorry if we interrupted your meal.

Oh, thanks for your interesting trip report. I think it is one of your best!

Still a wise guy, NS.

The XS650 Society has a rally at LBL in May(May 18 - 20 LBL #25 Land-Between-the-Lakes, Kentucky. Holiday Inn Express, 173).
I would like to get there one of these days............long ride from Baltimore.

Go Dawg, Go!!

Thanks, mARKo. Land-Between-the-Lakes never even crossed my mind. I thought it was reserved by the Indiana Crowd. However, it does cover a big area. Is there more than one Visitor's Center there?

There is more in my remarks than the naked eye can see!

crash bang - Is there a link to a trip report for that adventure? Thanks.

These guys have a motorcycle rally at LBL every May.

NS, I used to ride of those bikes and every spring I get the fever to saddle up but I have nothing to throw a leg over any more.

Maybe next year..............

And what's with the dead beaver?

That's gonna stink.

Jenny Ridge is essentially middle ground between the north and the south of the N/S trail. I traveled north to first campsite, Dead Beaver Camp.

A little over 5mi one way out and back.

Nice walk actually. I've been thinking about it this morning.

I was there in July. Dead Beaver Spring had water in it but the streams were dry. I'm working on section hiking the north south trail. Haven't got to far yet but I will do it! LBL is 20 minutes from my house so I could make more rapid progress if I could get someone to go with me and shuttle.

Nowslimmer, there are several visitor centers. One on the north end, one on the south end and one in the middle. The North/South trail is @59 miles. There are other loop trails in the area as well.
