i am 70/30 leaning towards going climbing at devils lake at this point. i am just having a hard time getting excited about going backpacking right now unless it involves climbing something. haha. sad but it's all crash bang's fault.

Meangreen,

If you're serious about joining us probably the closest you can get is to park at the Hayes Trail, and walk in from there. I'm guessing we're going to camp at the top of the Peninsula Trail. The traihead parking for the Hayes is right past a red barn on your left with a trail post marking the entrance last time I checked.

we'll hang out a trail of glow-sticks for you and you can come cook smores with us! i bought an rei ice cream making machine and also will have my ultralight hand crank blender for making backcountry strawberry daiquiris! really roughing it! you'll know our camp site by the LED floodlights (solar powered/battery charged) and electric bear deterrent perimeter fence we will have put out.

I'm considering it. I'd have to lie to my former in-laws to see if they could watch my girls for an extra night, and then come straight from work. I could be at the trail head by 9. How long is the trip in? Do you think I could make it by midnight?
meangreen

Meangreen
seriously, if you can say that your coming down ,say Saturday night we could hike out to meet you, although Hayes is the closest ,wouldn't that involve some bush-waken
oldog
1:05:16 PM
9/14/07

I don't really know. I've only been to patton cave, and never down the peninsula trail. I'm not bushwhackin at night. Too many variables involved there.

MG,

If you start at the Hays TH you could probably hike it in two hours. If you drive down to Blackwell it's probably going to be three hours hike in.

I'm outta here. See ya'll tomorrow.

if you come in late sat night i'll meet you in the parking lot wherever and hike in with you. i don't think it would be that big of a deal.
