Thanksgiving weekend

“Is this the Thanksgiving weekend trip that I've heard so much about?”

“YES! it is :) teheheheheh Last year was fun. We drank beer and got drunk by the fire...and people couldn't find their tents....I remember it fondly. lol.”

Secondly, google "Grayson Highlands State Park" and it should pull up something useful for ya. You may add "VA" to the end of that, but it pulled it up right for me. Wise Shelter is a short walk (a few miles)from the parking lot at Massie Gap. It's really lovely up there.

“LOCATION: The park is on U.S. 58 midway between Independence and Damascus and is reached from I-81 at Exit 45 in Marion; turn south on Route 16 and travel 33 miles to US 58 in the community of Volney. Turn right onto US 58. Travel eight miles to the park's entrance.”

“NOTE: Going up the MTN from Marion is a lot easier than the alternative route which goes through Damascus, VA. The Damasucs side is liable to make you seasick. lol. I highly recommend going up from Marion.”

“It was a fine trip with some great bushwhacking. The hunters made for a great alarm clock Saturday morning after a howling lullaby from the coyotes. Those guys were singing to the full moon.

A drizzle woke me up early this morning...I was packed and at my car @ 5a.m.”
