“What's a good rewards card? I currently have a Citi Diamond Preferred Amex, but they don't consider anything a gas station or grocery store, so I'm not getting the "bonus points" I was promised. Gas and groceries are my main purchases, so that kind of card seemed to make sense, but apparently there is no such thing as a "standalone gas station" or "standalone grocer." It seems like a lot of the cards cap your rewards at some ridiculously low spending limit, like $100 a month for gas. My wife and I spend almost triple that just getting back and forth from work. Does REI have a good rewards cc?” 8:58:42 AM 8/29/07 “That's what I use, but it's not the best percentage wise. Check out Chase.” 9:01:47 AM 8/29/07 “I just got myself an American Express Blue card. After talking further with Citi Bank they informed me that since I was upgraded to the rewards card from my older college card, I didn't qualify for the intro specials. It makes me wonder why they sent all that promo information in the millions of envelops I've received from them. I told them that I don't like the "too bad for you" attitude I get whenever I have a problem with one of my accounts. My last problem was with my checking/MM accounts. They are online only accounts and I was denied access for 11 days while waiting for a new PIN number to arrive in the mail. I was very mad because my PIN was not my online password, and I was never informed that ordering a PIN for my debit card would cause me to be denied access to the online features of my online only account. I got the old "sorry sir, but you'll just have to wait." I don't expect any better treatment from any bank, but it still feels good to tell em to shove it.” 1:14:53 PM 8/29/07
