My Solution to EverythingView Messages“In response to a current thread where the solution to all of our problems always includes the government telling us what to do - I've decided to go back to my liberal roots and list solutions to the country's problems here: Solution to ... * Hunger problem - the government mandates being full. * The poverty problem - the government mandates being rich. * The murder problem - the government mandates staying alive. * The theft problem - the government mandates everything is community property. * The job problem - the government mandates everyone works. * The holiday problem - the government mandates nobody works. * The saggy-pants problem - the government mandates suspenders. * The gay-marriage problem - the government mandates nobody is gay. * The nuclear family problem - the government mandates everyone is gay. * The energy problem - the government mandates everything be hooked to windmills. * The immigration problem - the government mandates everybody just ignores it. * The school-bully problem - the government mandates steroid use by nerds. * The obesity problem - the government mandates that 250 is "the new skinny". Come on people. The government is not the solution to your problems! for the same reason it's not the solution to your neighbors problems and not the solution to the problems of the kids in the projects in the next town over. The government should focus on one thing - protecting our borders - and it's the one thing nobody wants it to do! (at least in the 2 party system) The only way our country will get back on track is for everybody to decide to go back to the basics. Let's start here. {{{{{ pebble }}}}}” 9:32:18 AM 8/29/07 9:34:00 AM 8/29/07 “"The only way our country will get back on track is for everybody to decide to go back to the basics. Let's start here." I'm hip, man! Let's sit back, take our clothes off, relax and have some wine.” 9:40:30 AM 8/29/07 “Yes that is true of the federal gov, but what about State, county and city gov?” 9:40:55 AM 8/29/07 “LOL @ MarkO! Don't eat the apple tho!” 9:42:02 AM 8/29/07 “That's not a bad idea MarkO!” 9:46:09 AM 8/29/07 “The Sarge/MarkO nudity problem - the government mandates blindness.” 9:54:29 AM 8/29/07 “The steroids in baseball problem: the government mandates 600' fences.” 10:27:30 AM 8/29/07 “NonCon, please don't use my name and "mandate" in the same sentence......PU-LEEZE!!!” 10:32:06 AM 8/29/07 “bad experience?” 10:33:28 AM 8/29/07 “not yet” 10:37:21 AM 8/29/07 “laughin at Marko” 10:40:55 AM 8/29/07 “So, what about uncliff's question? I'll give you that border protection may, theoretically be the only job the federal gov't should undertake. But what about state, county & local?” 10:42:05 AM 8/29/07 “That's a job for the KKK, Techie.” 10:45:40 AM 8/29/07 “Support your local redneck militia!” 10:50:29 AM 8/29/07 “But what about state, county & local? I look at it like this, since you asked. "State" should focus on it's borders and assisting counties in protecting it's people. "County" should focus on policing, legal matters, and "clean-up" work - such as trash removal and general maintenance. "Local" - not much more than a subset to county, if it should exist at all (depends on the complexity of the county).” 10:52:24 AM 8/29/07 “Um guys...this has an incredibly BAD potential for the upcoming BASIC trip.....” 10:53:19 AM 8/29/07 “And what about social responsibilities, such as those handled by the Social Security Admin, at the federal level? Some things are handled much more efficiently as one group, instead of 50+ groups. Maintaining 50+ data centers, processing staff, etc. gets expensive unless you can lump it all together. Edit: although based on your last post not even the State would handle this function since it, too, would only protect its borders. So it would fall to the county level? last edited: 8/29/07 11:01:57 AM” 11:00:19 AM 8/29/07 “And what about social responsibilities, such as those handled by the Social Security Admin, at the federal level? The Social Security Administration should be abolished. Never should have existed in the first place.” 11:02:08 AM 8/29/07 “"The Social Security Administration should be abolished. Never should have existed in the first place." That's what the American Fascist Party said in the '30s when they tried to stop it.” 1:30:02 PM 8/29/07 “Remember when Rostenkowski was attacked by the Grey Panthers for #&%!$ing with Social Security? Dubya didn't get very far with that either, did he? He attempt at misdirection from the war resulted in another 8-point drop in the polls.” 1:39:11 PM 8/29/07 “Yeah. Social security. Flag burning. Gay marriage. The guy tried about every play in the book to lead Americans away from paying attention to the war. Maybe he should just get a BJ from an intern...” 2:46:25 PM 8/29/07 “That's what the American Fascist Party said in the '30s when they tried to stop it. Well, unlike a lot of people on here, I don't make my decisions based on popular (or unpopular) opinion. Regardless of what the AFP, NAMBLA or the Nazi Party thinks, it's a bad idea and shouldn't exist.” 3:18:05 PM 8/29/07 “Because starving grandmas are so cool.” 5:39:22 PM 8/29/07 “America needs shanty towns. No really, when enough Americans live in third world squalor Mexicans won't be able to compete with that level of desperation. Our illegal immigrant problems will be over. Yaaaaaay!!” 5:50:26 PM 8/29/07 ““Because starving grandmas are so cool.” Compared to fat-leechey grandmas, they are extremely cool. I'm surprised you didn't throw babies and puppy dogs into your argument there violin.” 7:31:59 PM 8/29/07 ““Because starving grandmas are so cool.” Yeah, and taking Grandma and Grandpa's money all those decades, mismanaging it and then giving them next to no return and Grandma still eats cat food is a lot better. Why do you accept such mediocrity from your government?” 2:31:41 AM 8/30/07 “Have you guys ever spoken to people who lived when there was no social security? It was hardly the utopia you seem to imagine. Your post indicates that you have no idea how social security functions, Nigal.” 3:39:02 AM 8/30/07 “Have you guys ever spoken to people who lived when there was no social security? It was hardly the utopia you seem to imagine. Utopia? Who said anything about a Utopia? Link please?! Here is what I did say on the victom thread ... “Are we expecting our poor to live like the poor of a 3rd world country? That would be a fair comparison. - bearmagnet Not to pick on yoy bm, but this is a good example of the utopian mentality of the left. They expect a perfect society, and when it's not there, blame the government. We aren't many generations from the wild west, yet many expect The Jetsons. Progress takes time and effort. Star Trek is not our reality.” - Sarge 8:23:53 AM 8/28/07 Violin, your basic assumption is that every solution should lead to a utopia. That's just not the case. Some things are more important than everybody owning 2 cars and an Xbox. Like .... "freedom".” 4:28:55 AM 8/30/07 “Utopia is attainable. Proof is the Corporate Utopia we live in now.” 4:43:47 AM 8/30/07 “The dumbing down of "freedom"?” 4:57:41 AM 8/30/07 “How so MarkO? Freedom is being able to live without somebody else dictating how you should live. That means other people don't tell you how to spend your money and who to give it to. You disagree? You think that's too simplistic? What is freedom to you?” 4:59:58 AM 8/30/07 “I think what Sarge is saying is true, instead of losing our freedom to some overwhelming force (like the Evil Empire) we are slowly allowing those freedoms we should cherish to be traded for the false sense of "Security". Too many times I see people who are willing to wholesale give up their freedom (read RESPONSIBILITY) for protecting their own lives to Government Assurances that they will be protected. Only to find that when the stuff really hits the fan, the government never intended or prepared to protect them. I have long been an advocate that 85% or more of the residents of Public Housing are quite good people. The problem is that the 15% remaining bring in some horrible elements. And those elements combined with the attitude of "It Ain't My Business" creates and atmosphere where people are either A. UNWILLING to Take action or B. Realize that if they DO take action they are going to be the source of retribution. Years ago in another city we had a case where a mother and her "stay there guy" were leaving at 7 Am to go run the streets. She had two small children (Ages 3 and 5) and when they left they left the stove on, the oven on with the door open to heat the apartment to the required 98F (the furnace only heated it to a chilly 80F). One morning there was a fire. When we performed the investigation we discovered the 5 year old had been lighting pieces of paper on the stove to flick at the 3 year old. The fire was called in by a neighbor who saw the smoke, called 911 and then went INTO the burning apartment to get the kiddies. Seeing as how Momma and "man who done stay here" were no where in the area and in fact did not return until 3 that afternoon the State was involved. The momma had the kids taken (they were given back to her a few weeks later) she lost her "free house" and less than a week later the good Samaritin had their house firebombed in the middle of the night. Well the investigation revealed the "Man who done stay there" was stopped a block from the fire bombing with gasoline on his clothing,a lighter and certain other incriminating materials on him. Charged with arson in the first degree he was sentenced to ..(this is my favorite) 12 MONTHS PROBATION. One year later he returned to the neighborhood to wreak more havoc on the good samaritin.....and as luck would have it apparently the drug dealers in the area made the mistaken assumption (don't know WHERE they got this information) he was a snitch.... Regardless....the case sickened me but taught me how tough it is to be a good citizen in one of these places.” 5:15:34 AM 8/30/07 “I don't need lessons on "freedom" from you, Sarge. Seeing as how Momma and "man who done stay here" What is that, "racism lite"? I'll bet you're real polite when in the hood.” 5:31:32 AM 8/30/07 “I don't need lessons on "freedom" from you, Sarge. Maybe you do. I asked you what freedom means to you - and gave you my version of it. Why are you afraid to tell us what freedom is? Perhaps if you had to articulate it you'd realize that you are proposing we do away with it.” 5:35:11 AM 8/30/07 “UM no marky mark..that is actually a term you will find in black and white lower income residences...Maybe the wifey can explain it to you.” 5:35:22 AM 8/30/07 “Hey Georgia Boy, I understand cracker talk just fine. No Sarge, I'm not afraid to tell you anything just wary of talking to a brick wall. "....you'd realize that you are proposing we do away with it." See, you are making this crap up and telling me what I think. How are things in Lala Land?” 5:45:43 AM 8/30/07 “No Sarge, I'm not afraid to tell you anything just wary of talking to a brick wall. And yet you still haven't told us what "freedom" means to you, but you have no problem telling me how we should ask the government to restrict our freedoms. Double standard?” 5:53:50 AM 8/30/07 “Walmart in Mexico has had a huge drop in sales due to lack of US dollars pouring into their country from the US by Mexican nationals that had been working in US construction. Has the tide turned?” 6:00:22 AM 8/30/07 “UN...I saw today that Arizona is reporting losing about 100 illegals (READ CRIMINALS) a day back across the river.” 6:49:55 AM 8/30/07 “"And yet you still haven't told us what "freedom" means to you, but you have no problem telling me how we should ask the government to restrict our freedoms." I'm not about to tell you "what freedom means to me", you'll just twist it up any way you please anyway. And there's more fantasy about "me" restricting "freedom". Paranoia Seek help or just bugger off.” 6:53:54 AM 8/30/07 “EXCUUUSE me Marky Mark...I believe you are one of the primary supporters of the biggest restriction of freedom..MY freedom to choose to spend MY money the way I want.” 6:59:13 AM 8/30/07 “That's why Boeing hasn't installed the 'vitual border fence'. They don'T know which way to face the cameras; Facing north , so we can see their back as they head toward your job. Or south, so when can see what they stole while they were here.” 7:12:31 AM 8/30/07 “I'm not about to tell you "what freedom means to me", you'll just twist it up any way you please anyway. Like this ? ... “"The Social Security Administration should be abolished. Never should have existed in the first place." That's what the American Fascist Party said in the '30s when they tried to stop it.” - MarkO 2:30:02 PM 8/29/07 Marko supports socialization, not freedom to do with our money how we please. If that's a "twist" ..........” 7:14:47 AM 8/30/07 “LOL..SURPRISE SURPRISE...Marko supports SOMEONE ELSE doing the work....” 7:19:23 AM 8/30/07 “I don't see why you people don't move to Mexico. They REALLY know how to keep the poor in their place down there. The way things are going up here, you'll be able to bring in some illegal US citizens to do your landscaping at a discount.” 7:24:13 AM 8/30/07 “Tilt, The very next thing I read after your post was this: U.S. Economy: Expansion Was Faster Than Estimated Gross domestic product rose at a 4 percent annual rate in the second quarter, the Commerce Department said in Washington, up from an initial estimate of 3.4 percent. The median forecast of economists polled by Bloomberg News was 4.1 percent. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aP3CFLmKC2CQ&refer=worldwide” 7:27:52 AM 8/30/07 “Mexico...a failing ultra corrupt government that squelches every attempt to improve one's life....Heck I got that in Augusta...(LOL) and Tilty pooo supports them.” 7:28:36 AM 8/30/07 “Your post indicates that you have no idea how social security functions, Nigal. SSI = Federal Government entity. So very poorly.” 11:30:08 AM 8/30/07 “Sarge do you get a giggle out of each estimate that is released and the "experts" have predicted Gloom and Doom ...the best part is watching them try to explain why they were wrong.... Kinda like the Hurricane Predictions this year.” 11:33:10 AM 8/30/07
