Hey Mocs. There is a thread over on WhiteBlaze about the bear activity in the GSMNP. Last week Mt. Collins shelter was closed and Ice Water Springs shelter has a nuisance bear. I am not sure if you will be going through this area or not, but wanted to pass on the information.”

“We were supposed to go up to Cedar, MI and stay at my fiance's family cabin on Lake Leelanau but her dad died last month and they had to put it on the market this week. So it's a no go. Plan B is to go to my parents in WV and take our new bikes we bought this week or go to my aunt's cabin in remote WV and take our bikes. Not sure yet.”

Is San Francisco near Sacto?? It's my first time going to CA, I ain't got a clue. We're only going to be in San Fran for a couple days, so we'll probably tourist it up around there. Then we're going to Yosemite!”

“I know. I know. I was just rubbing it in. I think I will be gone tho :( Wish I would be here as it would be cool to meet you guys. For reference, Sacramento is about 90 miles NE of San Fran. You'll know you're getting closer when you feel the furnace blast...

You guys will have a blast in Yosemite but be forewarned, it is dry, dry, dry out here and the falls are not flowing any longer (so I have heard). You should take time to drive down the coast if it fits your sechedule. In the Bay Area, Muir Woods and Muir Beach are both easily accessible from the city and will really give you a flavor of coastal Nor Cal. Plus, they would be just your speed in your, um, condition :)”

“I'm so excited...there are plans for the weekend..when I posted earlier it was not looking good.

If I'm feeling better tomorrow,I think I might...I'm going to head out early...and try to catch early morning off the BRP. I was thinking of going to Sam's Knob but I've done it so many times...I may opt for the Flat Laurel trail. I've not put that in stone yet...I'm just excited to get out!!!

Sunday...church...then the hubby has been bugging me to go night fishing so we will head down to Keowee in SC Sunday evening.

Monday will be the Apple Festival!

“Rangertarol, Skycal,Hikerduane and I did a 25 mile loop on the PCT/JMT from Agnew to Devils Postpile. Beautiful weather and no skeeters either. I dropped a geocache at Rosalie Lake while camping there on the 3rd night.
