It was a blast reading this thread - sorry I haven't posted. HOI - that was so awesome and the water was much needed! This drought is terrible on all the sources. Good griefies. I am in Georgy. A week to go, and the journey has been incredible.

Spam - I read your message at Mountain Harbour and was so excited to happen upon it leafing through the register. We had the wood stove crankin' in there. The Roans was cold, but sunny. Roan High Knob frosted over when we came through.

I thought I was really slick one time.... I couldn't find the water source and I was getting a little low. Then that evening the sky opened up and I collected a couple of quarts as it ran off my tarp.

But then about halfway through my cup of chocolate-coffee I thought "Geeee, I hope this water didn't drip off of any poison ivy on the way down!!"”

“The rucks are an informal weekend-long gathering of long distance hikers - not as much of a schedule as the ALDHA Gatherings but much the same cast of characters (e.g. mostly past and future thruhikers or section hikers). We talk, hike a bit, eat a lot (pot luck meals), watch some slide shows, etc. Usually around 100 people show up. One is in PA at the end of January, one at Wesser MLK weekend, one in Colorado in February.
