Finally......
Evelyn Jane arrived at 5:38 yesterday, September 3rd. She's 7lbs 10oz, 20 inches long.

She's perfectly healthy, and I will be again soon. It was a pretty awful labor and delivery....she wouldn't fit through the birth canal, and the cord was wrapped around her. My contractions wouldn't stay consistent, so I got pitosin, had to wait for an epidural which only gave me relief on the right side, and long story short she was born via emergency c-section in which they had to give me general anestheisa.

Continued....
I enjoyed the morphine while it lasted, and have vicodin on order. Gotta love the drugs!

G is a FANTASTIC dad, he's doing everything since I am not moving too much at the moment. We'll be in the hospital until THursday, most likely. I love that they have wireless internet!

I'll post a picture or two here soon, I'll have G load a few up. She's gorgeous. :)

Congrats! I can feel for your delivery, the birth of our first child was similar. I will always remember how dumbfounded I felt when (after 29 hours of labor) they suddenly ordered the OR prepped, threw scrubs at me and told me to change in the bathroom quickly. Came out 2 minutes later and the room was completely empty. Scared the crap out of me.

The fun part was when I had to help her into/during/out of the shower the first time in the hospital. I ended up having to walk naked in front of my mother-in-law, LOL!

Very glad to hear that everything went well in the end.

I adore her name!! Geez Amy, sounds like you got the whole gammit of pain meds, aside from a spinal. I'm very glad you're both well (I was starting to worry). Take it easy during your recovery. Can't wait to see the little smiley babe!

Gongrats!!...glad you and baby are recovering well

that sucks you had to go through both labor and then have surgery too...that happened to a friend of ours...i know it's cliché but at least the baby's healthy…no breathing problems for the baby as a result of the c-section?

Aaaaaaawe! There is nothing like being a mom. I am so happy for you and G!! I'm sorry you had to have the c-section but as long as you and baby are well, that's all that is important. I highly recommend the epidural. I'm surprised it didn't give you complete relief. I guess in your circumstances, some was better than none. Take your time and let yourself heal. I know you're excited but it is crucial that you don't pull or damage anything. After all, you may want to go through all this agony again one day. :) So, will you call her Evelyn, Eve, Eva? That is a beautiful name. CONGRATULATIONS, Smiley Mom!

Ok, I'm working on the pics. And we'll call her Evie or Evelyn. Depends on which one of us you ask.

I'm feeling better now that I'm off the morphine, and have been walking around some. A shower certainly helped too.

OK, back to the pics.....

Congratulations Smiley Girl! How absolutely appropriate to have labored on labor day! Can't believe how chipper you are after a c-sec, amazing! Be sure to take it easy when you get home, OK?

Sometimes you can get a bad epidural like that, it all depends upon the skill of the anesthesiologist. One of my epidurals and I actually cannot remember which kid's labor now, I had a small window of pain on my left upper thigh, all of my labor pains concentrated into a tight two inch sqare. It was a killer; I think I drove the poor nurse insane b!tching about it.

Thanks, all.

Treebait, the epidural prolly didn't do its job because the spaces between my vertebra are pretty small - the anestesiologist had to try twice to get it in. Overall, it wasn't the best birth experience!

I have a few pics here - I'm trying to get more posted. No guarantees when that'll happen - I'm still taking the occassional vicodin. :)
