Check here Crash. They are local to me and have an online presence. I've bought tons of stuff from them and they are super reliable.

I'm sure Nimblefoot knows where to get a cheap lap dance in many Far East ports of call.

Install O/S

Voila

You have a month of nag screens from M$ telling you to activate your O/S install... but your old machine should be fixed and back by then...

How old is the computer you sent away for repairs? Was it a Dell by any chance? When I bought my daughter's Dell three years ago when she started college, I also paid for the four year warranty. Well, she broke the screen and she said it smelled like "B.O." (I am not kidding), so I sent it back to Dell for repair. I guess a three year old computer is too old to repair, and they ended up sending me back a brand new Dell that retails for $1400.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that before you spent money on a temporary replacement.

I bought the Dell Latitude c600 and am very happy with it. they currently dont have online ordering but do have a great ninety day warranty.

Give them a call. If you need it shipped I'll help out as I work near the store.

I can get a one minute lap top for a buck, or one that lasts 3 songs in a private booth for $20 just up the street from my work, ur, uh, so I hear at least.

narrowed it down to

If you want it for only a short time you should be fine. Long term, I'd avoid Compaq. I had a Compaq laptop a few years ago and had to have the battery, power supply, and keyboard replaced within the first few months. A friend of my also had one and had similar problems.

I should not that this was before the Compaq & HP merger, so quality may have improved.
