“Mrs. Stew is planning on attending too. She's never been on a TT trip.
“That's cool, Stew.
We have some other friends with families coming in for this trip too. They're pretty normal. ;)
Chili will get to meet his long lost brother, too. :D”
“Balsam Mountain IS supposed to close on Oct 9.
< Grrrrrrrrrrrr >”
Guess you'll just have to show up now, huh?
“The nascent 'plan' was to do a combo.... Balsam Mtn on Wed & Thurs PM, then head NW to Elkmont for the weekend.
Now, all things are in flux.
FLUX, I say ---”
“It's all fluxed up!”
“Are any the your old Scouts going that I might know, HPM or treebait?”
“Well, some of the families are coming. Captain Obvious is a maybe, as is Lightning Rod.”
“Hmmm.... I'm not sure SS. I'm trying to remember who you've met.
I know you met Andrew at Pine Mountain (he's still at UF) and I'm not sure he can make it.”
“does anyone think the temps that time of year would be too cold for a 1.5 year old?”
“Nah. Bring the baby! Just bring lots of different layers to mix and match comfort levels. :)”
“Mine is a big fat huge MAYBE my schedule is filling up fast but hopefully I can come over for the day on the 20th. I would love to meet everyone!!!”
“I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully, we will see at least one or two leaves with some color. I expect most of them to be brown or on the ground.”
“Hope you can make it, CG!
If all else fails we can improvise fall color with a quick trip to a home decor store for some autumn leaf garlands.”
“now you are talking!!!
I thought about running over to Cherokee and check out the Wild Plum yesterday...then I remembered the motorcylce ralley was there this weekend! So I opted for a nice nap!”
“chili - The third weekend in October will be the best for the colors. Nature always adjusts. Have some faith.”
“NS, I am seeing trees that are completely brown on some of the ridge tops at mid elevation.”
“The Wild Plum is in Gatlinburg (Tn) not Cherokee (NC.)
Chili, your doppelganger won't be able to make it. He's now responsible for the largest crane in Florida, and it'll be starting up at its first worksite that same weekend. His wife, Tina, and a friend are still coming up though.”
“Oh Geeez Tree...can you tell I'm directionally challenged. I could get lost in a paperbag! I actually got lost in Townsend once! Thanks for the clarification!”
“No problem, CG.
I'm very much looking forward to this trip.”
“Man I wish I could go on this one.”
“Laurel asked if Reece and Emma could come on this trip, too.”
“Hey I might be able to come by on Saturday. I would come on Friday but I have to have a Colonoscopy that day so iffin I do come Saturday I might be walkin funny!”
“I would be more interested in the drive down!!”
“I would be more interested in the drive down!!”
“I'm looking forward to getting the eff out of here for a weekend. I love this area and all the projects we're working on, but we need a break.”
“Spam, you need to stop going to that dentist.”
“Andrew / other scouts --
I'm in the area.
If you want to go, lemme know -- I can drive. Just share a few $ for gas. My cell's #'s in my PI.

“ This is a kid friendly trip.
Adult beverages are welcome in moderation.
So what exactly is "in moderation" mean? LOL!”
“It means you have to drink responsibly: As the beer commercials say to do, but then you can fall down if you want to -- just don't hit anyone else on the way down :)”
“HPM, do you have room for one more. I am going to try and make this.”
“Sure do Ewker. C'mon out.
If some folks want to do long dayhikes in the area that require a shuttle, now might be a good time as I'm sure we could arrange something.”
“Be aware that little kids with very good memories about what they heard and saw will be on this trip, you boozers! I still remember an incident from when I was a4 or 5, at a ski lodge. Some guy barfed up all the real egg nog and wine he was drinking; I walked over to him and loudly aid "Hey Mister, you spilled something!" It makes my mom cringe to this day.”
“HPM, what time are you and your family arriving on Friday the 19th?”
“I can hear everyone now..."Ewker! Put that thing away! It's not that kind of hanging out!"”
“The reservation form says check in is at noon but I expect us to be there prior to that.”
“cool, I am planning on taking off that Friday so I can take my time driving up
dang Nigal, you mean I gotta wear pants”
“I would love to come to this, but that weekend is my girls birthday in Myrtle beach or its the next weekend when my wife's brother is coming down to celebrate with the kids. I can't remember which weekend is which, I just no they are back to back and one of them is during this weekend.”
“dang Nigal, you mean I gotta wear pants
“The weekend of this trip is looking pretty good for me. I had planned to go down to Sipsey the following weekend but I think I'm gonna have to bail on that one.
On Saturday, I was thinking about hiking to Spruce Flats Falls from Tremont, then continuing on the old railroad grade to Buckhorn Gap and picking up Meigs Creek trail to the Sinks. But there would need to be at least one other person to go to set up a shuttle between Tremont and the Sinks. Total mileage would be 7.5. Any takers?
I'm thinking about bringing one of these 5 liter mini-kegs of some Oktoberfest beer if some folks will help me with it. I only want a couple of beers and these hold fourteen 12 oz., or 10.5 pints. These mini kegs are only good for a couple of days once they're tapped so I don't want it to go to waste.
“Can I have your Liver?
Jus' look at the bellies of those germans on the can. Portly? I reckon!”
“Need help with drinking beer?
Did I just hear someone call my name?”
“is there room for one more?”
“Sure there is, BPB.”
“heck yeah....im sure i wont be up for more than some well earned hammock time, but im there...”
“longlost, bring it.”
“I'm done with beer...chili you have to drink mine for me!”
