This past Saturday was hot and humid, a perfect day to hunt for some swimming holes- and few are better than the Haystacks. I took my niece, nephew, and their cousin. They loved the hike and the waterfalls, they really loved climbing the rocks and sliding into the pools at the Haystacks, which are formed by smooth Burgoon sandstone.

This is a very beautiful place located in the Loyalsock State Forest, along the Loyalsock Trail. The trail is easy and good for kids, my nephew is 5 and did fine.

This is a classic PA dayhike, one I really recommend.

Wow, that looks nice! Is the water low there, too? It looks low judging from the exposed banks.

Very low, no rain for several weeks.

For anyone thinking of camping down in that area I was reading on the Loyalsock trail website that open fires are now prohibited in that area all year round. Seems the party atmosphere got too excessive. Too bad too because those are awesome sites and would be great to relax around a campfire.

Great pictures! Good to see some future TT'ers out enjoying nature.

Fires are now prohibited, the woods were becoming picked over.

Nice pictures and sounds like a nice time. That's great that you took the kids on a nice hike like that.
That area needed a fire ban. It was getting roughed up from people gathering wood.
