Yep, jerseynewhiker starts hiking south on the 21st. The Equinox weekend even.

Pamela, you still have enough time to get here. I'll pick you up at the airport. ;)

Backslacker, we need to have a talk about that job of yours. ;) I could call you out if you want.];>

Hey jersey,

just as a backup, get yourself a couple of postal stops on down the trail, so you can send ahead anything you come to realize you don't want, or won't need until later. Same goes for new socks, new boot laces... that kind of stuff.

A lot of times, I've started out a hike thinking, "Yeah, I'll use this for...." then i get home and realize I never took it out of the pack. I cut at least three pounds off my base pack weight just going thru that mental exercise after I got several trips under my belt.

YOu'll get the equivelent of several trips under your belt in just a few days of continuous mileage.

Conk... I am thinking of parking at the Kirkridge trailhead Saturday morning and hiking north, hoping to connect with them somewhere around the Water Gap. Then hiking back to Kirkridge for the night with them. But that is still up in the air at this point.

I am hoping we make Kirkridge.

That is dependent on jersey's putting one foot in front of the other for longer than he ever has up until that weekend. ;)

I can email you a cell number...

Is the Mohican Outdoor Center still available as a camping center? (I have an old book.) That might make a good Friday night stop.

NJ has been better since they reinstituted the bear hunt.

We completed our section of NJ last year during bear season...it sounded like Beirut on a busy day.

The Mohican Outdoor Center is gone. Too bad, it was the last of 'em. Ha-ha-ha-ha.

What comes to mind when one has no life. Ha-ha

No hunt scheduled this year but it's suppose to be back next year and in '09.

Enjoy the quiet while you can!

Sweet! That was the scariest part of that hike. Gunshots to the left, shotgun blasts to the right...

We didn't talk for two days. Head down flat out hauling butt out of there.

jerseynewhiker

9/16/07

All I have to do is toss everything in the pack. I live ready. ;)

That book will be a huge help.

I thought you had a background run for work once? :)

You came back with no criminal history on either the state or federal level in NJ. Do you have anything pending I should know about? ;) You are very confirmable as a real human being.

You had the memorial this weekend? Again, I'm sorry. Your mom is lucky to have found one of the good ones. He was too young. :(
spindlette

lol...

Asking spindle if she's ready to go is like asking a bear if it's hungry. :p

Wish I could partake, but you told spindle to set pace. I've seen on occassion what spindle's pace can be. Have fun with that. ;)

Glad to see you got the companion. It's a good book. It helped me be able to support Green Hornet on his thru-hike this year.

Hiking keeps me out of bars. ;)

He's a thin, 25 year old 6-footer. He'll hold his own, I'm sure.

The check said nothing, which is exactly what you want. ;) I didn't dig into your financials or residence history...because that doesn't concern me. All the possible legal stuff came back crystal clean. (It's good to know the strange guy I'm meeting on a roadside doesn't have a history of violent offenses...better safe than dead, you know?)

You may not be a good boy, but you're very good at not getting caught. ;> lol!

Yep, Friday, 9:30 Culvers Gap on 206. Rain, shine, snow, or locust plague.

I need this hike. Can't wait!

Ok then. It's a plan!

If anything changes regarding the ride, let me know. I can come get you during the day on Thurs and you could either crash here, or I could drop you on trail.

Wed's no good for driving. Kidlet school schedules.

There are websites that will do it for you. Usually costs a few bucks and you need some information. The sites search public documents for public records. Like spindle said they only find if the person has been caught and convicted. But usually that's enough.

Hey Chris, before you go, could you please change your myspace background so I can read stuff on it? That black background and whatever it is picture is driving my eye's nutso!

You are going to drop in periodcally and post trip blogs; right? I mean, you could hit up the library computers couldn't you? I want to live the AT vicariously through you!!!
