i signed up for trails.com service over a year ago and it was TERRIBLE. the trail descriptions were not very good and the maps were not very useful. i turned back the subscription during the trial so i didn't have to pay for it. a lot of the trails i looked at were in the falcon books i had already. there isn't anything new here that i can't find somewhere else for free.

topozone.com was also awful and i regret ever paying for the service. i also tried mapcard.com and found it to be equally bad.

in the end i wound up using the service at mytopo.com to make waterproof printed topo maps and even upload and print tracks from my GPS onto the maps. i printed one map and had it laminated... i keep it on my wall (a region of the Grand Canyon).
