I just did in fact, and Mari is still coming. Thanks for the info on Otis. Heehee, I'v hiked with folks and don't even know it! LOL! Bummer that you and Coyote will be missing this. Probably not the best trip for Otis though anyway.

Who all is coming in Friday night/Sat morning? Just trying to get a handle on the shuttle situation. My plan is to leave Mon morning coming home and will need to shuttle it that way Sat morning. Stew and I will be riding up after dropping his car in Gadsden, AL.

I will be in sometime between noon and midnight on Saturday and will be leaving on Monday afternoon from the Gladdie center. I will need someone to assist with getting a car up there too. How early on Monday are you leaving DH?

I'd love to leave by 10 am

you prolly need to leave a car at the suspension bridge parking lot then. We will get it all figured out. No worries there.

Any other arrivees on Friday night/Sat morning? I hope so, so we can do the shuttle.

There's so many that haven't been heard from at all that it's hard to say really. Either way I will be parking my car on tunnel ridge road on Saturday night so we can surely get something worked out either Saturday night or Sunday morning for the shuttle business.

Ahh, that'd be good then. So you're parking close to Sat'd night campspot regardless of what time you come in then?

Have you checked the weather? Each time I check it, it warms up. The current forecast is 60 and rain during the day on Sat.

damn. Oh well. 60 and raining doesn't scare me. 30 and raining would be bad though.

Ya I'll definately park at the first parking lot on tunnel ridge road which will only be a mile or so from Sat night's camp site. That's close enough I can make two trips! LOL!

30 and raining would be cool for me, assuming it was snow. It's been about 5 years since I've been in any snow. TC2 was the last time except for 1" on the ground last winter at my in-laws house.
dayhiker

Even if it did snow I doubt it would stick. It's been too warm. Come back up in January and we should have some white stuff then. I'd even be fine with snow, just not really cold rain, or ice. That would be disasterous for me and my gear.

The pack I was planning on using would be ok in the rain, BUT, as my gear list grows I may get into using my Gearskin pack which is not enclosed. Everything goes in sil stuff sacks, but it's still not a fun wet weather solution.

I know what you mean. All those extra bags add weight, and get to be a PITA when you need to get to your stuff.

The campchair may be the thing that swings me out of the Vapor Trail pack. We're going to have so much campfire time that I feel like I need to take a good chair.
dayhiker

This will be the first trip that I bring a chair to. LOL! I actually thought it would be a necessity too. I'd bring one of them soooper dooper UL hammocks too if I had one.

Last year I brought a little tripod stool and it was not that great. I had planned on getting a chair kit but found an Insulmat chair that weighed the same as the chair kit and cost the same too so I got that instead. It was a 50% markdown on campmor because of a "cosmetic imperfection." Looks fine to me and now I don't have to risk my mattress. It is a bit bulky though. I may just strap it to the outside of the pack and wrap it in a trash compactor bag.

I'm bringing a folding metal stool the Jerbear gave me at the mother's day trip. I can't fathom bringing it on a real BP trip though. It's too much. I'll at least have it on Saturday though.

Since this will be the first time in a while I've used the tarptent I need to scare up some tyvek. I loaned the tarp out and it didn't return with the tyvek.

The guy that built my house is gonna hook me up on the tyvek.

Now I just need to figure out food.
dayhiker

Oh sheet. I don't have any tyvek but I would be happy to bring you a sheet of thick plastic if you can't find any tyvek.

I'm leaning towards sausage dogs, onions, and peppers on a tortiall and good mustard Sat night and fajittas on Sunday. Both meals will be topped off with a double helping of Alka-Seltzer. Mmmm, good.
dayhiker

Ya I'm definately doing the smoked sausage with peppers and onions on tortillas Sat. night. That sounds great!

If I thought the sausage would keep another day I'd just do sausage and dirty rice the 2nd day.

I'll be there Friday night but I have to pull out early and leave Sunday sometime. Are we doing Friday night at Koomer Ridge campground where we stayed the last time?

Leavin early Sunday Nigal? bummer. You will want to get your car up to tunnel ridge road, or I could give you a lift on Sunday morning. Either way is cool. With all that are coming in on Friday it would make more sense to get a group camp site over where we were for the mothers day trip. It'll prolly be a bit more secluded incase folks stay up late into the night. (I can't immagine that)

MG - is the friday night place being changed? Unless told otherwise I'm showing up at Koomer Ridge campground like the "da plan" thread says.

You got it right DH. Nothing changed. I was just speculating that the Fri arrivals should perhaps get a group site or two instead of getting individual sites. I won't be there so Y'all can do as you please.
meangreen

How do late arrivals work at the campground? It'll be about 10 or later when I get there.

the beauty of Koomer is that it works on the honor system. You go pick out a spot, then go back to the tregistration board at the entrance ond fill out a card and drop it with your money into a drop box. Works 24/7 and is pretty much hassle free. YOu hang the stub from the card on a clip in the parking space at your site so you can prove you paid.

The area MG is talking about would be a good choice. It's kind of like walk in camping but it does offer more privacy. As you first go into the camp ground go left. I'm hoping to get in about 9pm so I can go ahead and save ya a camp if'n ya want.

sum-bltch! Our attendance count is droppin like panties on prom night! With Mariposa gone Brittc would be our token female but I would really be surprised if she comes. I was bugging her about it last week, but she would only say maybe. 8P~

I still have no clue when I'll be arriving. Is anyone coming through Indy on Saturday? If I could share gas with someone that may help me make up my mind about when I leave.

You still have 6 down, including yourself, not a Mob, but still a good number.

Sorry, I took myself off your trip, but the lure of the north, along with 12"-15" of fresh snow, won me over.
