Thats why I said the temps would be something between 0 and 70 degrees :) I have camped at South Mountain in January when the temp dropped to 0 and been on Sitting Bear with the high around 70. You never know until January gets here.”

Below Conley Cove/LGT intersection somebody made a teepee using a large blue tarp. There were some foam pads, etc. I helped myself to a cooking pot and coffee pot. There was a sign proclaiming Baby F*ckers Forever, whatever that means.

If crossing river at Cambric (where we crossed. We looped on Spence Ridge, LGT, Cambric, and MTS trails), Devils Hole or Brushy Ridge; you gots to get wet.

If anybody has a crowbar, C4, dynamite feel free to remove the bridge”

“Either map is fine but I like the Forest Service map a little better.You can call the Grandfather ranger district for a map at (828)652-2144. I think it cost around 6 bucks.

edoc the new bridge IS at the end of the Spence Ridge trail.

The bridge isn't listed on any of the maps yet.The only other change that the maps need updated on is the Sandy Flats trail has been eliminated.

Rev,The campsite for Saturday night can be reached from the Conly Cove trailhead and it's only 1.5 miles and you prolly won't be the only person taking that route.

Everyone:What do you all think of basecamping at the intersection of the Linville Gorge trail and the Conley Cove trail and taking a killer dayhike to Tablerock and Hawksbill on the east side?The new bridge that crosses the river just north of the campsite opens up lots of opertunities for any amount of milage you want. I submitted this idea awhile back but got no responses.”

“If I recall correctly the only places for groups to camp down in the gorge is Bable tower or at the bottom of the conly cove trail. Good water at the bottom of conly cove not sure what is at Bable Tower. I'll camp where ever yall want to camp though.”

“There are lots of places at that intersection and very close by in either direction on the Linville Gorge trail.The folks that want to backpack can be shuttled down to the Pinch In trail and they can come in that way to the same campsite.This is a trip that everyone can actually have the exact hike they want and iffin you want to just do some trout fishing then you can do that too.We can make all the arrangements Friday night for everyone.

We can even arrange for you to do the basecamp and dayhike on Saturday and backpack out on the Pinch In trail iffin you're a real hardass!

I remember last year when we all took the PinchIN MORE LIKE STRAIGHT DOWN Trail and you went down what ever trail so that you could be a fishin and geezz man...That trail kicked my ARSE.....CrashBand, 21,Yerby and others ,,, I think we all were soar and wore out after that hike , and you were all full on fishing catching a BIG TROUT with all so much energy. DID you take a nap too!
