JB I never said a MINE I said a Coal Fired Plant to be either fired up or built some 60 miles away that will affect the Gorge.
Several people have asked me about it saying it was on there local news.
I'll just ask them more questions.

They should build a nuke plant instead.

I don't know if there is a more recent story on the power plant but here is the story where the NC regulatory commission shot down Duke powers plan to build two power plants at its Cliffside site and only approved 1 plant. Plus required them to spend 1% of annual revenue (like $35 million) to energy conservation measures plus close down 4 old coal plants.

http://www.newsobserver.com/104/story/548388.html

Good news for the people. Maybe now that co2 emissions have to be considered in operating/start-up costs the power companies will start giving serious attention to building nuke plants in the future since they need the steady base supply of electricity that no alternative method provides.

I found out today there is a Coal Fired Ploant to be built in Wise Co Virginia that will effect Linville Gorge some 60 miles away. Lots of people are against the plant construction.

It was in the Bristol News paper for several days now.
