Anyone out there use any of the ULA packs? On my hike last week one of the thru hikers was using the Amp (10 ounce) pack and he had used it since GA. He was very happy with it although at 2100 cu he said he had to pack carefully.
Got any experience with ULA packs?

I think I see one in my future.

I use one, Birch uses one, phil uses one, Gem got one I think. We all have the P2. ULA makes a nice pack, well worth the $. I love mine with all my heart. The guys give great customer service too. I lost weight and needed a new hipbelt, they sent one right out and I had it within three days. I also spoke extensively with Brian when we ordered our packs. He's a really nice guy who gets out on the trails and tests his own stuff. I highly recommend ULA packs. Mine is now 4 I think, and shows no age.

I have heard very good things about them and would love to try a Circuit. Which one of thier packs are you looking at.

I've had the P-1, then the Circuit, followed by the Catalyst and now, I have the Conduit.

If I could only have one ULA pack, for sub-35lb loads, it would be the Circuit. Which, I now regret, having sold.

I like the Conduit, but, I wouldn't want to carry loads any heavier than 20lbs with it.

They are awesome, I overload mine alot, and often, and it has held up with no problems so far. I've even bushwacked a few times with it, and it didn't shred!

I am trying to decide between the Amp Ultralight loads for weekends or longer and the Conduit or the new Ohm...... so many great choices. My base weight is in the low teens for the shoulder seasons plus food and water so an Amp would work with about 3-4 days worth of food. Actually with a 10 ounce pack my base weight would be about 10-11lbs and that would give me up to 9lbs of food and water hmmmm

My last trip was 8 days, my pack was heavy with food about 16lbs of gear and 20lbs of food, but I had too much food. I had enough food for 10 days I think I mis-calculated something or I had the munchies when I waas packing.

Maybe I should get the Amp and the Ohm it's just money right?

I am having trouble comprehending a 10 oounce pack. My lightest pack now is the Gregory Z-pack at 3-4lbs

Have any of you tried the Amigo Pro Water filter?

I started my AT thru-hike last year with a ULA Catalyst. I was happy with the pack for the most part, but it ended up falling apart with me about 2/3's the way. I finally switched out in New Hampshire. But I must say that I was caught in lots of rain, took a few spills, rubbed up against a lot of boulders and trees, etc....in other words I was kinda rough with it.
There were quite a few hikers using the ULA who had no problems. If I was to do another thru-hike, I would still start with a ULA.

Check-out the MLD Zip as well, which, I also have. Very nice pack for the weight, although, your looking at an 8 week wait.
No biggie, if you ordered it during the "off season" though? and again, I personally, would not want to carry more that 20lbs with the Zip,either.
The Golite Jam-2 might fit the bill too? Andrew Skurka used one on his Great Western Loop hike.
He stripped the pack down to 16oz by removing the internal back-pad, and trimming all excess webbing.

Yep, but do not try and filter heavily silted water with it.
Clear water through it works fine. Brown, silted water clogged mine.

I like my ULA P2. It is rated for 40 lbs, but I think 37 is closer to the max. I had some slippage of compression straps above 37 lbs.

I really like the features such as the pockets on the hip straps.

Below 30 lbs. it is like you are wearing nothing.
