Chinmusic, really, you'd sit home and do nothing? Does it have to be all or nothing?
I try to drive the most environmentally friendly vehicle I can, and carpool. We chose our car specifically because it's the most fuel effiecient and best emission wise vehicle we could afford that would fit our needs. It's about doing what you can to make things less harmful. If that means I have to pack out a quarter pound of plastic baggies and trash to take home and reuse or recycle then I will. Roll your eyes all you want. Be careful though, someone might slap you on your back and they'll stick that way. ;)

I don't know Hyway, It all adds up. If everyone burns their trash at each campfire, that's a whole buncha trash burning.

But, like I said to each his own. I'm not going to change anyone's mind here.

I don't know why you can't just admit that you were starting something. You play Miss Innocent. Your whole negative perception of me is based on this lie in your head that I start things, and you and others don't. The reality is much different. Same thing with your close friend Ruby. She said some crappy things about me once, when I hadn't said a single thing to or about her. Then I asked her to have Matt remove it because, (and get this), I couldn't post. You see ... She was spewing things about me on here when I was banned. Why? Did I start something? No. I couldn't have. I asked Matt to remove it because I couldn't respond. He didn't, so I told him (which I thought I would do at the time), that I'd pursue it legally if he didn't do something (it wasn't just about Ruby's post). Again, nothing. So I emailed Ruby and asked her as POLITELY as I can (I even reread it several times making it as polite as I could), and asked her to have Matt remove the offending post so I don't have to take further action against Matt. Instead she gets on here and for 2 years or so has been telling people I threatened her! Not only did I not threaten her, it was all in response to some offensive things she wrote, 100% unprovoked, on here about me. You guys are two pees in a pod. It's too bad too because I never had any problems with either of you, then all of a sudden you pull this kind of stuff.

You just don't get it Sass. You've constructed this false reality in your mind, and now can't see past it.

To me it's about proportions. The math about worrying about burning a "pop tart wrapper" is just so silly to me....sorry. I could say that the minor extra weight will cause me to eat more once the hike is over. Since I am an evil meat-eater that means MORE cows will be needed. And more cows means more methane. More methane more more global warming to some. So, just maybe I'm SAVING the environment by cutting the weight.......lol

While I have no qualms whatsoever about burning my wrappers in a fire, I DO own TWO hybrids. I've had a Civic Hybrid since 2003 and have recently replaced the family van with a 2007 Prius. I got over 50 mpg on my return trip from Michigan yesterday.

I did, many many many many times, on that original thread. The fact that you never answered is why I'm asking it again now.

The only time I ever burn trash is to get a fire started and then only paper. Take it home and recycle it! If you can't recycle it then send it to the landfill.”

yep, it's TWENTY GAZILLION TIMES more environmentally friendly to let the trash be compacted in landfills where it can leach out over an EXTENDED timeframe into the groundwater in CONCENTRATED form to pollute the water table.....

Chinmusic, it's 6 in one hand and half a dozen in the other. You know how damaging the manufacturing process of the prius is. It may not be in the future but it is now. I believe the comparison is that you may as well be driving a Hummer it's so bad. But, I really don't want to spend the rest of my day arguing, I have other stuff to do like make dinner and work on a brownie troop project example.
