Does anyone know the exact elevation of the AUxier Ridge Parking area? The reason I ask is so I can calibrate my barometric altimiter when I get there Saturday. Google Earth keeps crashing my POS computer.

Thanks,

Bigben

Google Earth info
Ben, I used Google Earth and got the following info, Auxier Ridge Trailhead coordinates: 37.82000* N by 83.68090 W, elevation ~1290 feet. Does this help any?

By the way, are you a fireman? If so, I think we hiked together a few years ago.

Thanks, that'll be perfect. And yes, I'm a firefighter. Refresh my memory - where did we hike?

I planned a day hike @ Miami Whitewater Forest, a Hamilton County Park, w/Ohio Backpacker & Hikers. It was in March, 2006. There were six of us, including you and your son, plus Joe, Eric, and another Ben.

Anyone know of some good cabins to rent at RRG? My friend and her husband are going there to hike but don't want to camp.

tell them to not be such tenderfoots, take some brown paint, and paint it like a little log cabin

Crash, you drive right by a few every time you go there. In fact if you did not turn at the intersection when you get off the parkway you would run off the road almost directly below one...How did you manage to do the AT and not get lost???!!!!

Stomper,
Here is a link to some. The phone #'s are links to their URLs.

There are some by the corner of the road going to Rock Bridge and I have seen the Red River Gorgeous ones but I don't know anything about any them from personal experience. I liked the location of the RR Gorgeous ones because they are in the gorge.
