Officials said the group had shot a bird and when Harris went to retrieve it, he put his gun on the ground and crossed a fence. As he crossed the fence, hunting dogs stepped on his gun causing it to fire.

What kind of moron throws his shotgun on the ground, pointed in direction of the path he's going to walk, when he's got his buddies there to hold it for him? Or even prop it up against a tree or fencepost.

Let's face it folks, the dog isn't a very good shot! I mean hell, shotgun and all he could get was a leg?

Maybe all the dog wanted was a LEG? I mean....maybe he just wanted part of the hunter....a conservationalist dog hunter?

I have yet to see a dog kill someone via firearm; however, as we all know, this is American and one can pull up their boot straps and make something of themselves.

Hell, look at the boopsey crew. They've went from marginal humans to down right upstanding pillars of their communities via electronic methods.

Hell, back in the day, they would have had to actually stand in the public area and face the tomotoes, (or TomAtos) for real. This electronic heebeegeebee makes it all real nice, don't it?

It was either this or the poetry thread ----- I flipped a quarter.

"The Revenant"

I am the dog you put to sleep,
as you like to call the needle of oblivion,
come back to tell you this simple thing:
I never liked you--not one bit.
When I licked your face,
I thought of biting off your nose.
When I watched you toweling yourself dry,
I wanted to leap and unman you with a snap.
I resented the way you moved,
your lack of animal grace,
the way you would sit in a chair and eat,
a napkin on your lap, knife in your hand.
I would have run away,
but I was too weak, a trick you taught me
while I was learning to sit and heel,
and--greatest of insults--shake hands without a hand.
I admit the sight of the leash
would excite me
but only because it meant I was about
to smell things you had never touched.
You do not want to believe this,
but I have no reason to lie.
I hated the car, the rubber toys,
disliked your friends and, worse, your relatives.
The jingling of my tags drove me mad.
You always scratched me in the wrong place.
All I ever wanted from you
was food and fresh water in my metal bowls.
While you slept, I watched you breathe
as the moon rose in the sky.
It took all my strength
not to raise my head and howl.
Now I am free of the collar,
the yellow raincoat, monogrammed sweater,
the absurdity of your lawn,
and that is all you need to know about this place
except what you already supposed
and are glad it did not happen sooner--
that everyone here can read and write,
the dogs in poetry, the cats and the others in prose.

Mebbe this is why dogs spin 'round and 'round before lying down? Perhaps they're hoping for a lucky shot at us...

HOUSTON (Reuters) - A Houston-area man was killed in a hunting accident after his dog stepped on a loaded shotgun in the back of a pick-up truck, triggering a blast that pierced the vehicle and the hunter's leg, a local sheriff said.

Perry Price, a 46-year-old math teacher, shot a goose on Saturday then put his gun in the back of the truck where the dog was waiting to retrieve the bird.

"I've been in law enforcement 20 years and this is probably the strangest one I've had," said Chambers County Sheriff Joe LaRive.

Investigators found paw prints and mud from the dog, a chocolate Labrador retriever named Arthur, on the shotgun, LaRive said.

Price was taken to a local hospital, but died from a loss of blood after doctors were unable to revive him.
