once i complete a year in korea, my opportunities open up some. my recruiter has job placements for those who complete a one-year contract with them, and im almost half-way there (its nice to be saying that, cuz i really miss home). some of the places that they have to offer and that im really interested in, are chile, turkey, and indonesia. i really like chile, cuz thats where the andes are, i like turkey, cuz its right next to europe, and i like indonesia, because its exotic.

anyone have any comments or opinions about living in any of those places for a year?

if you don't go to chili and the andes, you're an idiot.

Europe is great, but try to go somewhere else than turkey if you want to see Europe.

My backpacking son will be in Argentina next spring semester.

When would you be in Chile?

Isn't it Indonesia that has Muslim style terrorism?

I'd jump on Chile.

right now, my recruiter doesnt have any places in europe. turkey is the closest. i can always try to get placed on my own, but i understand its difficult without an EU visa

From Turkey it would be nice to explore Greece and Egypt.

additionally, even if you can get a job with an eu visa, its still difficult to arrange the job from overseas. they want to meet you first

Last time when friends from the US came to go skiing they were a bit disappointed that the officer at the airport in Zürich would just wave them through, without giving them a stamp into their passport. I am pretty they didn't need visa.

I vote for Chile. Just don't agree to bring home any packages with you.

mmm..right, it's probably a difference whether you're a tourist or want to work in the EU, but I think it shouldn't be too difficult for a US citizen? Particulare if you're part of a programm or with an recruiting agency?

ive heard that western european schools dont like to hire non-european union foreigners. at the very least, your parents need to be citizens. and they really prefer to interview in person rather than hire overseas

right now, my recruiter doesnt have any openings in europe, but i believe they are working on it
