Blasphemy - ATV's less damaging than hiking: “Contrary to popular belief, responsible off-roading makes a very small impact, even less so than hikers. Hikers spend more time in the wilderness, impacting it much more heavily than a day's worth of responsible riding. They leave more waste, burn local wood and deface public property. http://media.www.dailyutahchronicle.com/media/storage/paper244/news/2007/11/09/Opinion/Let-The.Public.Use.The.Land-3091110.shtml last edited: 11/10/07 8:48:44 AM” 8:39:34 AM 11/10/07 “You compare responsible drivers with irresponsible hikers. The link didn't work for me.” 8:44:34 AM 11/10/07 “Seems to me the operative word in that link is "opinion". What's the saying? "Opinions are like noses... Everyone has one.."” 9:29:22 AM 11/10/07 “Although only a few riders have abused their privilege and have failed to handle themselves properly..." LOL!” 9:39:04 AM 11/10/07 “What a crock of #&%!$. That's my opinion of their opinion.” 10:21:38 AM 11/10/07 “OK, lets just for a moment envisage the number of hikers in the Adirondack High Peaks region. Now contemplate if you will that number of ATV's using those trails. The noise pollution alone would make me cringe” 10:33:27 AM 11/10/07 “the article specifies the need to stay on designated trails. I don't have a whole lot of problem with special trails being set aside for off road vehicle use. The concept of shared use is shaky enuf with horses and bikes. Adding motor vehicles to that mix would send it over the top. Horror of horrors can you imagine hikers burning local wood? Heh... as opposed to imported oil products? Oh well.” 10:41:58 AM 11/10/07
