mountain tents
I'm just looking for some input, some opinions, about the tent. I might want to get one, but I've heard that NF isn't the company it used to be. One thing -- I don't really like the new ground flap: looks to me like a funnel in windblown snow. . . . right up into the back of the tent between the inner & fly.. . .might've been a great idea had they extended the fly all the way 'round the tent, but they didn't do that.

They are a little cheaper these days than a new Trango 2, and they''ve less weight too.

The lower weight might be better than the Trango 2, but I wonder if it'll stand a bad storm as well?

So. . . can ya just offer up some opinions about the tent? 'especially in comparison to the Trango 2?

I have two friends who have previous versions of this tent. Both of them love it. Sorry, nothing more specific than that.

Here's a pic of one of them in action:

That's one heavy tent! I remember looking at it years ago, I liked it but didn't like the weight!

Ended up with a Bibler I tent, it's probably my favorite piece of gear. 4 season, 2 person (small for a 2 person... ideal for me solo!).

I`ve got the old expedition 25,circa 1999-2000 personally I like the tent..it`s bomb proof and water tight with room to spare for two.If I was to complain it`d be the amount of time required to set it up and the fact that it didn`t come with a instruction sheet.

Damn, I'm gettin' sweaty just looking at that thing. Sweaty in a bad way, not the good way paddles.

Nigal I`ll admit it`s no summer tent, but it`s great for cold weather camping. If you tried camping in this beast in July or August you`d be guaranted to loose 10 pounds thru sweating..You`d be surprised how bright it can be inside even on a grey winters day in this puppy. The vestubile can be a pain though even though it does have lots of storage capacity.

I couldn't even do a single wall tent in winter. I tarp it in the winter most trips.

I`ve tarped it to...coldest one I did was - 32 celsius. Guess I`ve got wimpy in my old age, definitely prefer a tent now...More power to yah Nigal..
