This is a neat opportunity to thank our service personnel. Whether you agree with the war or not, the people who are there are still worthy of a moment of our time to say thank you.

We thanked them last week.

This week is for giving thanks to God Almighty.

Right Sass - I am a good example of somebody who does not support the troops. That's a good characterization of me. Good job. That really makes a lot of sense.

Sorry I thought this was the week we gave thanks for the results of true freedom (i.e. following the ending of the Pilgrim's original attempt at the Commune process) and the resultant incredible success they had at surviving. (The Real Thanksgiving story is Pretty cool). The incredible success this nation has experienced is not contingent on the Military but on the actions and responsibility of each American.

Sass its so nice you included the military in this, but I think what Sarge is so expertly saying is "there are many others you might want to think about."
I will give thanks for the guy who runs the all night gas station. Or even we might consider the People who will not see their families at Thanksgiving because they are working.

No XL, Sarge said "this week is for giving thanks to God Almighty." I think that is appropriate though, as is giving thanks to whatever or whomever you are thankful for.

Thank you, Sass! I will check it out later.

I didn't see a single mention in your initial post claiming that this was the "week" to thank service persons and no one else that by thanking one group of people we were somehow not thanking other groups/entities.

Most people would just take a posted link at face value rather than feel the need to criticize. Unless one were inherently obstreperous that is.

I took it that it was a way to say thank you and we're thinking of you to a group of people who can't be home for the holidays. How difficult is that to comprehend.

BTW, someone sent me a good idea about Christmas cards. You can address Christas cards to Walter Reed, or probably anywhere for that matter ATTN: A US serviceman.

How very insensitive Ruby! You and Sassafras have hurt my feelings.

Even small indicators of gratitude are very difficult for me... its far too much to expect me to express gratitude in two directions in the same week and to even suggest I could is harsh and to criticize someone else for speaking out on this is even meaner, not just to him but to me.

You should apologize and make nice to me. If you do, I will thank you for it. I've already scheduled thank yous for the next few weeks, but I'd definitely be able to thank you by March or April.

Let's combine both.

Thank you Lord for the young men and women of this country who willingly serve in our armed forces to protect not only the interests of this United States of America, but also the fates of other less fortunate peoples in countries where the government is not "Of, By & For the people", but rather an enemey of it's own people.

our nephew has already left. he will be in Iraq by the end of Jan. having a loved one so far from home, makes you hug your loved ones at home even more!!

Might I point out that Sass never said this had anything to do with Thanksgiving. I am guessing it is coincidental that she found the site and then decided to share it with TT a few days before Thanksgiving. I bet she would have posted the exact same post in, for example, April.

Then again, someone probably would have accused her of making an April Fools' joke of the troops. How inappropriate!

Being thankfull for the food I have to eat, and the water I have to drink, the clothes I have to wear, and the funds I have to share came from knowing, that all of this was obtained by those who gave what was needed for this to happen. So many people have contributed to this, from ancient times to now, that all I can do is thank them, buy paying it forward to all of those I can. I am truly gratefull, Thanksgiving is life in action.

Ruby and Sass - I've put you down on Yahoo Calendar for thanks in March.

I'm not sure I'll live long enough to forgiving you though. I've got a huge backlog of unforgiven slights and personal attacks that will take decades to work through. I've had to buy extra memory to keep track of it, so I've been able to put you in the queue.

I'm truly grateful for my new job and the new life it gives me, I haven't been this happy in years! I'm grateful for the neighborhood we live in. I'm grateful for my church, it's not a building, it's the people! I'm grateful for the excellent school district we live in and the wonderful teachers that have blessed my children or at least attempted to, LOL! I'm grateful for the awesome Boy Scout troop that my son BrianSean picked out and the really great friends I've made there, and how they work so hard with BrianSean. I'm grateful for my truck and I'm grateful for my computer and how these things let me get around in the world.

And I'm grateful for all of you!

Pamela, this thread was created specifically to bring to view a link from Xerox corporation that provides us with an avenue to thank our servicemen and women. Check it out, it's pretty cool. The link is: http://www.letssaythanks.com/Home1024.html
