“Your spelling could use some help too, Mr. Sarge.”
Sassafras

No doubt. But I'm not stupid enough to call the writing I do "very well said", when it is full of spelling mistakes. What was your point exactly?

It is a coincidence. I received the link via email from my NSU in Girl Scouts and thought some here might appreciate it. I am sooooo sorry my timing doesn't sit well with you. You might want to consider what an ass you're making of yourself and just let the issue go at this point. I could even post the original email if you require proof. It came in on the 19th. You're acting like a big whiny child, Sarge. Better be careful or you'll get rocks for Christmas. OH! I'm so sorry, I mentioned Christmas in Thanksgiving week! Damn, what about people who have birthdays this week. Do they have to wait to celebrate?!

Actually Sass, if you'll go back and read, I just made a simple commentary about this at the beginning. Then a ton of people, including you, piled on and made it into a much bigger issue. Don't believe me? Read the thread and refresh your memory ... through your double-standards glasses.

FYI: I have received word that Walter Reed is no longer accepting the Christmas cards addressed to "Any Soldier." I know that email has been circulating quite heavily these days. Sass, I didn't think you'd mind if I posted this here.

This morning I was turned on to this site. To send some Christmas cheer, check out this link to Operation Santa. These moms are serving all soldiers, not just Marines.
http://www.marinemoms-bethesda.org/operationsanta.html

From the site:
"Operation Santa started in 2004 when Deb and Connie, two Marine Moms (www.marinecorpsmoms.com) wanted to send some Christmas cheer to their sons' units in Iraq. It grew over the weeks and they ended up shipping over 6,000 stuffed stockings. From there, it has taken on a life of its own. In 2006 they mailed 17,000 stockings to deployed Marines and 300 to deployed National Guard units.

Operation Santa also branched out last year to include those wounded/injured service members who were in the hospitals at Bethesda and Walter Reed on Christmas Day. Carrie and her friends delivered homemade stockings stuffed with $10.00 Subway and $5.00 Dunkin' Donuts gift cards, gum, candy, crackers, cookies,
pads of paper and pens, and cards sent from all over the country to heroes on the wards. It made their Christmas Day that much more special to be able to let the patients know that they were loved and thought of by so many grateful Americans.

This year, Operation Santa has been expanded to include Brooke AMC and Balboa Naval hospital as well as Walter Reed and Bethesda. Any OIF/OEF wounded from all branches of the military that are on the wards the day the stockings are delivered will receive one. Carrie says they will stick with the stocking stuffers listed above. What is going to change is how she raises the funds or has the material goods donated. In the past, they have raised funds and then gone shopping with the money. This year, she would like to see if individual businesses like Dunkin' Donuts and Subway, etc. would be interested in donating the cards themselves.

Individuals and organizations interested in supporting the efforts at any of the medical centers listed can contact Carrie Costantini, at wrcostan@comcast.net or by phone (703) 670-4108.

We are in particular need of stocking stuffers and postage money. Marine Corps Moms and the Marine Corps Family Foundation are 501(c)(3) organizations and thus donations would be tax deductible.

If you would like to send cards, please put them in an unsealed envelope, then into another envelope for mailing. (Yes we screen them.) The cards cannot have glitter on them, and they cannot have that sugary coating stuff on them. This is important the glitter and coating can come off, get into open wounds, and cause secondary infections. And we all know how glitter is it gets everywhere. :) Any questions about the cards can be emailed to me,
jane@marinemoms-bethesda.org.

Cards should be postmarked by December 3rd. This will enable us to get the cards to our volunteers at Brookes AMC and Balboa Naval Hospital in time. Mailing address is:
Operation Santa
c/o Marine Moms-Bethesda
P.O. Box 22
Cordova, MD 21625

Thats about it folks Im excited. Carries excited. Any questions, please contact one of us. And thank you."

"I just made a simple commentary"

Yeah, right. You did your best to make it fuego just like you do with everything. You implied stuff that was not there and you were an ass, just like always. You are a jerk. You live for an argument, the nastier the better. You treat people like crap, do your best to make them feel small so you might have a moment of self righteous glory. It must be horrible to feel so badly about yourself that you've got to constantly pick at people, their choices and their intelligence. You are not right, not kind, and I am absolutely NOT thankful for you or your presence here. You are ugly, deep down inside.

And just in case you wondered, that was not a personal attack but the TRUTH. Prove me wrong! Your behavior here is all the proof anyone needs.

Reply all you want, say whatever you want about me, cry to all your internet "friends". I don't care. You will not get another response from me. You are back on ignore. And don't try emailing me either. I blocked your address after the last string of emails. =)

You know I am thankful for the military 365 days a year (to make Tilty happy I say they can screw themselves that 1/ 4day a year (LOL).

I have bought innumerable meals for the guys in resturants...and that is pretty cool. Its easy, you go in and see some soldiers sitting in a group eating ask the waitress to give you their tab. Then you get to see the amazement in their eyes when they ask for the tab and she points to you.

OH and to keep from paying those high extra bills, find a person having like a bowl of soup and a coke and swap bills with them....(LOL)

All you are talking about is intent, and you presume to know my intent, which you can't possibly. Your perception of me is so far from reality, it blows my mind.

And don't try emailing me either. I blocked your address after the last string of emails.

My last string of emails? That would be when I could not post on trailtalk and asked if you could post a message from Stove from when he was in the hospital for a stroke giving thanks to Abby for her present to him. I don't blame you for blocking me after that. That was messed up on my part.

You're a class act Sassafras.

My mean emails to Sassafras ...
This was about StoveStomper asking for a message to be posted on trailtalk-

From April 20th and 24th -

---------

Wow, you had to put your personal feelings for me before StoveStomper's request, somebody who is in the hospital recovering from a stroke, to put the word out? Amazing, but not surprising.

Sassafras/Birch,

Sass, I saw you were online so I thought I'd send this to you. I sent this to Nigal and XL earlier in the week, but Nigal isn't checking his email and XL is busy with a court case. Would you mind posting this on the What's up with StoveStomper thread please?

I spoke with StoveStomper earlier in the week. He had one message to give and that is that there was a sweet girl (Abby) who gave him a sweet drawing of a rainbow and a flower and he loves it VERY much! He wanted to thank that girl for such a wonderful gift.

He's doing great. He has physical therapy from morning until about 3:30 six days a week. He is able to stand on his own, and is learning to walk with assistance right now. He is also learning to speak again through therapy, including some shock therapy to awaken the neck muscles. It's pretty amazing, he can talk "normal" for some time after the electro-therapy. At least, normal for a southerner.

He and one other guy are the youngest around at the hospital which are stroke victims. I commented he must then get all the nurses to himself, but let's just say the nurses don't necessarily "fit" into the look he's going for. =)

He seems very positive. The doctors won't give him word that he'll make full recovery, but that's probably due to lawsuit reasons. He is making quick progress so it appears he'll be on the trail again before we know it.

He's eating solid food, but it's bland hospital food. Crash sent him a book about hospital food. The "treats" you guys are sending him are great, but he's saving them for the trail. So far he's lost like 20 pounds or so.

Thanks for posting,
Sarge

Before that was this mean email by me ...
From Oct, 2006-

------------

birch,

In reference to this post by you birch:

"how about you just follow the site rules and permanently ban those who post images of others without permission"

if you are still upset that I posted your picture, I am truly sorry.

You have to understand that you did not have context at the time. It really was funny. You only heard about it months later when your wife happened to find it when looking through my photo-bin on the site. Why you didn't see it when I originally posted it, I don't know. Probably you didn't check the site very often then.

So you have context, this is what happened. You posted this (snip):

Each deer I have killed has brought on the same emotional responses. Excitement at the success of my hunt and my abilities ( I dont hunt bait or use artificial means to lure a deer, I hunt where they are or hopefully will be), satisfaction that I provided my family with food (similar to gardening) and sorrow that I took the life of one of the most graceful and beautiful animals on earth. It is never easy. I recognize however that I am a carnivore and chose to be a predator. I know that I will eat meat, most will be killed in a horrific factory churningout a product. But for the few days i hunt I join my ancestors, I become ancient man. I become involved today with what we have done since the earliest days. I chose to be an active predator immersed in the process. The knowledge of my quarry, their habits, patterns the observation, the hunt and ultimately the kill. I also butcher the deer (I cant see the point in paying for something so simple and vital), sometimes with family or friends often alone. Its another step in the process.

A great post, that obviously draws mental images of primal man. I simply copied that snip from your post and made a characature of captain caveman with your head. It was pretty funny. Noncon was "LMAO". But, in context of course. Unfortunately, you saw just the picture many months later with no context and thought I was being mean, which I wasn't. The unfortunate thing about trailtalk (and other online sites), is if you don't keep up on conversations, you miss a TON of context. You're at the mercy of 1st impressions and hearsay. Not very reliable.

Anyways, I didn't mean anything by it in a negative way. I think if you would have seen it at the time it was intended to be seen, you would have got a kick out of it. I made it FOR you to be a source of humor - even a light tribute of sorts - not to flame you in any way. I had no reason to go around making characatures of people for the sole purpose of upsetting them.

I'm sure you weren't so upset by it - but obviously you hold a grudge enough to bring it up again, I'm assuming since I haven't seen similar things involving you on the board.

Anyways, that's the story behind it and hopefully you'll see it for what it was intended. I don't apologize for my actions, because zero negative intent was there, but I am sorry if you were offended because the message didn't get to you properly.

That's cool XL. We always try and buy the guys at the airport a meal or a drink. Rarely have we ever had anyone accept, but we always take the time to thank them personally.

Ruby, thank you for that info about Walter Reed! That was going to be a project for our troop this month. Maybe we'll do something for the VA instead.

crash - is that a reference to me? I'll post the previous emails if you want me to. They go back pretty far and are birch and I discussing our military experience (we were both stationed at the same place at the same time). We might have even trained together because I helped put on training for his Ranger batallion and have worked with them other times. It was a cordial discussion. If it wasn't a reference to me, fine.
