SPANISH KING TELLING CHAVEZ TO "SHUT UP" IS A RINGTONE HIT"

Madrid, Spain -

Many Spaniards were so amused when their King told Venezuela's president to "shut up", they want to hear the words every time their phone rings.

About half a million people have downloaded a mobile phone ringtone featuring the phrase, "Por que no te callas?", or "Why don't you shut up?" leading Madrid Daily El Pais reported on its Web site Monday.

That's what King Juan Carlos told Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez during a heated confrontation at a summit in Chile last week.

The ringtone is thought to have generated around $2.2 million for the companies selling it, El Pais said.

Chavez's opponents in Venezuela are no less obsessed.

Pirated copies of the quote have been popping up in the South American Country.

Then you have Pat Robertson method. If you don't like what someones says or does, kill them.

"On the June 25 edition of the Christian Broadcasting Network's The 700 Club, while apparently commenting on prior remarks he made in which he called for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, host Pat Robertson said that "now we've begun to see the kind of person he is and more and more people are saying to me, 'I think you were right.' " He also said that "[n]obody even knew who Hugo Chavez was" when Robertson first made his call for assassination: "They thought he was some grape picker from out in California. And all of a sudden my comments put him on the front page."

Thanks, Stovie...

I'm an amateur comedian, of course, having appeared on many message boards, and have received numerous awards and honorable mentions.

It remains immaterial what those "mentions" may or may not have said.

P.S. I thought it was pretty funny, too.

Perhaps Robertson will bail out the lard-ass vigilante from Texas and buy him a bus ticket to Venezuela?

We should let Hugo have us much leash as he wants.

His own people or military are going to end up whacking him the way he is going.

Hey, StoveStomper!

"Por que no te callas?

"We should let Hugo have us much leash as he wants.

His own people or military are going to end up whacking him the way he is going."

Hugo is not ours to leash, nor is any other national leader and Venezuela's oil belongs to Venezuelans, not U.S. oil companies.
If you want to burn some of that oil, or anyone else's, cash is all that is required.

I do agree that they should be left to their own devices.

barky little dogs belong on leashes

Venezuela's oil belongs to Venezuelans, not U.S. oil companies

Strawman, I never said otherwise. I will say this though, in the civilized world you are expected to fulfill your end of the bargain when you enter in to a contract.

Are you saying that the guy deserves to be murdered?

And for what, defying the petroleum industry?

No, what I am saying is dictators and would be dictators have a history of getting whacked by the folks they are attempting to control.

The Venezuelans are losing rights quickly under Chavez and they may not be willing to stand by and allow it to happen.

Hugo will gurn out shortly...the economy is tanking, inflation is running out of control...kinda like in all Socialist Experiments. Venezuelans will catch on and all WE have to do is wait and NOT send an aircraft to pull him out like we have other dictators.
