cheap tikka xp. check it...View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 15 of 15 messages posted.
hey y'all. real cheap tikka xp... “this is the cheapest i've ever seen the tikka xp... arguably the best headlamp out there... even with shipping its cheaper than retail 49.99... i just ordered me one... - 21 http://www.amazon.com/Petzl-Tikka-XP-Handsfree-Headlamps/dp/B000ZCP1CA/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1195794930&sr=1-9” 9:18:09 PM 11/22/07 “I have an Energizer brand - $12.95. *spot *wide *combination *secret CIA red” 2:31:21 AM 11/23/07 “I'd argue in favor of the XP. I saw that price somewhere else this week, so it's time to grab one. The Energizer is a great little headlamp, but the XP rocks the world!” 6:24:36 AM 11/23/07 “I'm not looking to rock the world - or light it for that matter. I need to light a small space in my immediate area, which cheapos do well enough for my meager needs. Besides, headlamps, like reading glasses, have a way of disappearing or falling apart in my presence. Therefore, I give the nod to monetary savings over all other considerations...” 6:38:00 AM 11/23/07 “i agree with what you said gojo, but the only thing i would say is that when it comes to the following scenario, i'm not sure if a less expensive headlamp would hold up, say, you drop it out of your bag onto a rock and then lands in a puddle, you're really going to need that for the rest of a trip, you wouldn't want it breaking... i'm sure the energizer is fine, but i'm just not sure on how durable it is...” 7:16:44 AM 11/23/07 “I use the Energizer headlamp, bought it at Walmart. It is great for around camp and in the tent. It has limited usefulness if you have to hike at night. My last trip we did some backpacking well past dusk on a trail we knew to a familiar camp. The Energizer just didn't light up enough of the trail for me. I would like something a little more powerful, esp. if I was on an unfamiliar trail.” 8:01:23 AM 11/23/07 “Got my headlamp at Aldi's for 8 bucks. Runs on 3 AAA's. It has "set the world on fire", "read in the tent", and "super covert red" settings. I don't think it even has a brand but it's been freakin great, and has taken a few hard knocks, and numerous trips in the rain.” 8:07:37 AM 11/23/07 “What's a HEAD LAMP ?” 10:20:23 AM 11/23/07 “My hardhat gets bumped off my head - or falls off if I tilt my head back far enough - on an almost daily basis, yet the headlamp keeps on shining. As far as night hiking is concerned, I need only enough light to illuminate the large, yellow dog that leads the way. As far as it konking out completely in the backcountry, I would do as with any other gear that does the same - improvise (plus I have a neato LED backup light on my multitool).” 12:08:43 PM 11/23/07 “Fridge, if you ever get one you'll never go back to a flashlight. Only Petzl's for this Canuck, BTW.” 12:35:03 PM 11/23/07 “BOL! Yall are prolly blind like baybe kittykittys! I look VERRY GOOD at nite times. My daddy sayed I got ey balls like a bat rat.” 12:40:07 PM 11/23/07 “My original Petzl Tikka was the dimmest light and least durable, but I loved it enough to buy 3. The energizer I replaced it with was much brighter and sturdier. My local wally world has 2 energizers - one is a monster you'd never want to take backpacking and the other is smaller, cheaper and more reasonable. My energizer is very durable. My only complaint is the switch sometimes gets turned on in my pack, so I keep a piece of duct tape over it. But the Tikka XP is really bright, has a spot and a flood and a low battery indicator. It's the bomb.” 7:00:03 AM 11/24/07 “I used an Energizer headlamp for about 2 years, then I took it on my A.T. thru-hike. It lasted about 3 months before I started having problems with it. I now use a Princeton Tec Aurora, but I can't complain about the Energizer.” 7:15:02 AM 11/24/07 “My PTA peckered-out on me within a few hikes. Never another, gardarnit.” 8:37:39 AM 11/24/07 “I looked at that one for awhile but ended up getting the Princeton Tec EOS. Current regulation FTW!” 10:43:10 AM 11/24/07
