Real hippies were and are not politically involved. Rubin and Hoffman were counter-culture political activists not to be confused with hippie.

Oh, there really are a ton of Hippies in Key West. Good safe place to sleep out on the streets, it's almost always warm. A friendly (or at least indifferent) environment that doesn't hassle a good hearted stoner.

“There were four horsepersons at the trailhead. They were on the trail several minutes before I was packed and ready. They looked like fine upstanding folks, but something made me suspect "hippie dopers".

That photo is not of a homemade bike, its' a modified bike. I had that outdone by age 10.

Rainbow peeps are fairly hippiesque.
