“Just a quick story some of you may find amusing. First I am a novice backpacker
Over the Thanksgiving weekend some myself & a friend hiked on the Black Forrest Trail in Slate Run PA. (Great trail) After over five hrs of walking we set up camp for the night.
The temp was a modest 22+ after dinner and a few drinks I settled into the warmth of my tent with my black Lab Jr. At about 1am Jr #&%!$s everywhere in my tent, I’m talking huge diarrhea. On my bag, on my pad, and needless to say on me.
I had no choice but to spend the night on the ground with nothing but mother nature
And the #&%!$ty dog.”

“I hope you hiked out first thing in the morning and took him to the vet. if you had been that sick he would have stayed by your side no matter what.

did you let him drink right from a stream of unfilered water?”

“ah man. that is horrible! i can't imagine much worse...

“How old is JR? Has he had any previous experience with backpacking?
My lab has always let me know when they don't feel good before they throw up.
I know my dogs so well that If I see a change in there normal routine or mood, I know something is wrong and react before anything like that happens in my tent. Even late at night I have woken up with a sixth sense knowing my dogs are sick.
Keep backpacking with your dog, He will pay off in the end....Dogs love you more than they love themselves. You will not find a better companion.
I take it you don't have children ? Children will do that to you as well, it's all part of the forces to mold you into being able to take it like a man or woman.”

Many day trips and a few overnighters.
He is one of the most faithful companions one could ever ask for. I believe the Sh*t
was somthing he may have eaten over the T-giving holiday, or the water.
And just for the record I have children.”

“Dude, that sucks. Were you able to clean everything up. By the way, dogs can get Giarrdia. One of my dogs had it once. Constantly crapped in the house until we discovered which one, we have 3, had it.”

“I left it go for the night, and it was frozen by the morning. It actually cleaned up very well at home with a scrub brush and garden hose. I then put my tent in the washer on a genter cycle is this ok? (no fly) Kelty Riverbed II

Long ago I took my now deceased dog to a fireworks show. Soon as the first one went off, he went tearing away towards a highway. I ran and tackled him, but he had been pooping as he was running he was so scared. Poor guy, but it was funny afterwards.”

“jkad, don't worry about sarge, he's mean spirited and no one likes him. He does not celebrate Christmas because Jesus gets more credit than Santa Clause. In another thread, he said something about declaring war on Christmas.

He trolls alot.. just a couple of years ago, he said he was dead and most of us still believe him (that he is dead).
