“As I remove my name from yet another trip it seems that I'll never go backpacking again. I know this isn't true but does anyone else ever feel like they forget what being in the woods is like????

Lately I haven't even had any time to dink around on TT. What is my world coming to?

I did get out on the 10 mile Zaleski loop dayhike a couple of weeks ago. I was sore for 3 or 4 days after that because it's been so long. I didn't even have a pack on.”

“Ahhh, seems like your jumping conclusions to me. Some people seem to focus alot on sex, and whatever else they seem to want that they cannot have, for the time beinging anyways. Like maybe camping or buying something on credit instead of waiting to save cash. Meaning one could change their desires, to have such. Not committ to them, which would be another fault.

You're being lazy. There are plenty of overnight backpacking places available there. All you have to do is educate yourself, not too difficult for someone with your background and experience. You could locate and experience many, memorable, backpacking trips.

“i know of a few places i could go, but theyre few and far between, and not very remote. south korea is the 4th most densely populated country in the world. i dont know if it would be worth the expense

im not going HIKING any less. im still averaging about 2 hiking trips per month. im just not over-nighting. ive HIKED in some very beautiful spots. but theyre also crowded spots, and very few backcountry spots are available. its mostly car-camping or sleeping in the huts”

“there are a few backcountry tent-sites here. but knowing korea like i do, its probably 50 tentpads in an area of a single city block, with kimchi and bibimbap stands around the corner. on a typical day out hiking, i might see 100 people or more in a five mile stretch. so im satisfied to hike during the day, come home to my nice private apartment at night”

Thanks Jonnycat...I had kind of forgotton about dayhiking because I WAS doing so much backpacking. There are some good dayhiking places close to home. I can at least get a quick fix until our 6 week long event ends December 31.”

When I was practicing law, I never had time to do things I liked without either feeling guilty for taking time off OR having a panic attack about being away.

I paid more taxes in some years during that run than I make now. But my life is much, much better.

All I can say is you have to find a way to have balance or harmony in life.

It's a bit of a catch 22. No work = lots of free time but no funds to use to enjoy your free time!!! Thank goodness backpacking is an inexpensive pass time.

I also struggle to find a happy medium in the work world. Sigh. My name is Jodi and I'm a recovering workaholic. You might say this is a slight relapse. This event is fun to work and only lasts a few weeks so its not bad.

And I have kicked the "panic attacks" when I'm away. When I take time off...I'm really OFF.

“LOL, well, the presumptive thought was work would be the only thing to keep you off the trail.

However, duties to my family and kids have caused me to miss or skip a few TT trips, so I understand.

Again, there is balance to life and unfortuantely, not enough time to go around...sometimes.”
