Our favorite back country ghost town got a mention in Backpacker magazine, as did Rock Run and the Old Loggers Path. In fact, Rock Run was named the best swimming hole.

The Runner up is Cedar Creek Falls, CA.. take that wanderer... hehehe

Of course, I am a little behind, this was in the October issue.

Never the less, Masten has been increasingly on the radar of hiking and back country enthusiasts.

It truly is a special place.

got mentioned in backpacker?

here come the hordes.

That monday morning we were getting ready to leave and two dudes from Ohio ambled into the camp finishing up a weekend on the OLP. Now I wonder if they'd heard of the area via BP mag.

Don't forget fishing in Pleasant Stream. I haven't fished it in a few years, but it used to be good fishing.

Haha!! Actually kleent, his behind is of the most perfect proportions...so you best step off!

Don't you hate it when you get a magazine subscription, and they start off sending you back issues that went out months ago? Bastards!

Howdy chocolatehead! :-)

Well actually I guess we wouldn't have seen the Masten article if they hadn't sent that one! It just seems like they should start with the most recent issue, because what if you'd already read the ones that came before it? I think they're just being cheap and trying to get rid of old issues they had laying around! Usually when I order magazines, it's like that.

When it comes to large ass, I must say that I have benefited from the largess of my progenitors.

I am a far bigger ass than that boy EarthNsky.

Kleeeeee-Ton, you are such a squurl.

I'll have to check out the article. I have the magazine lying around. Chocolatehead--you sure know how to lead a group in the remote wilderness far from all civilization to waterfalls "just around the corner"!!

I'm having flash backs to ENS sneaking out of the tent and running around camp in his stocking feet because he thought he heard fun. ;)

Nice pics Jmitch.....
Sunny, yes it's amazing how far out in the woods you can go and yet still be so close! Perhaps we should get a spring/summer group together to explore Rock Run, calling RichB......

I don't know about y'all, but Rich showed us a great little swimming hole under a splendid little waterfal that can be reached by a short bushwhack off the Pinchot Trail. The location has not been advertised in any magazines. I'll be skinny dipping this summer :)

I like those waterfalls and that area we bushwhacked into. The allure to it for me is that few people go there or even know about it.
