Those were from the Laurel Highlands Trail east of Pittsburgh in early December.

The LHT is sweeet because you get to stay in a shelter with its own fireplace and the parks dept supplies cut wood. Cushy camping for sure, but a great winter escape close to home also.

Nice winter pics! makes me eager to get out of town.

Winter Stream

Ski tour from Methow Valley to Stehekin, Washington. Scanned from a 30 year old slide.

Ski Tour from Methow Valley to Stehekin, crossing the divide between drainages. Scanned from a 30 year old slide.

Another one from a ski tour from Methow Valley to Stehekin. Each skier crossing this icy gulley cut a layer of snow off, and it went sliding down the icy gulley. We did not want to fall at this spot, and carrying a 60 pound pack did not make the skiing any easier. Scanned from a 30 year old slide.

More recent winter shot at Banner Ridge, Idaho. Cutting snow blocks for building a shelter.

I'm flattered. I gave that to my girlfriends parents in a frame and they said "Smashing and good show". Then Heather walked over and turned it right side up. The British are just soo polite!!!

I can send it full resolution also. My email should be on the webshots page or in my profile

The Laurel Highlands Trail is about an hour east of Pittsburgh. It is a 70 mile trail with designated camping areas and shelters are via reservation @ $3/night per person (PA residents) and $4/person for everyone else. This is not a dificult trail and the only significant hills are in the southern 6 miles. It is perfect for groups and is used heavily in warmer weather. That is typically why I go in the winter.

Great winter pictures, so far winter isn't good around here for skiing or snowshoeing. The rest of our snow will melt today and tomorrow is supposed to be in the 60's.

Depends on the variety, CG. They can bloom anywhere from late October through March.
