Ohhh, I thought he was making fun of himself and saying he bought down booties and had jewelry on them, ala, feminie. I now realized he's actually saying he's engages. A little slow on the uptake this morning. Congrats.

ST - No, we really haven't gotten that far yet but it won't be at the Sipsey. I did propose Logan Pass in Glacier NP but that was vetoed pretty quickly :(

If anyone has any recommendations for a cool place to have the wedding in eastern TN or western NC (or just about anywhere in the SE actually, just not "Biltmore expensive")...pass 'em along. We're going to make a list and sometime after the new year take a little 3-4 day road trip to check some of 'em out.

DH - You better get it on the calendar quick because we're probably looking at March to tie the knot and I'd hate to have to reschedule the wedding :)

Many thanks for the congrats everyone.

The Boone/Blowing Rock area is nice. This is in upper WNC.

You're making her plan a wedding in 3-4 months? You got balls my boy.

I'm not making her do diddly...it's a mutual decision. Neither of us sees much point in an extended engagement and there's a complicating factor of the best man's wife expecting a child in mid-late April which probably eliminates his ability to travel a month or so on either side of that time. We also figure that the majority of the places we would be interested in hosting it would probably already be booked in May and beyond. Who knows...it's all still pretty new at this point and we have lots to talk about.

I just know how, uh, defensive ladies can get on wedding planning.

I'm researching areas in Asheville for an office retreat in the same timeframe. I'll pass along anything I find. Blowing Rock is a really nice area but sits at a higher elevation and would probably still be winter then.

Highlands, NC is another nice area.

How big is the wedding party? I imagine you're looking at something where you could get 50 rooms or so without a problem?

I found a killer place in Asheville then saw their "Value Room" as they termed it was almost $400 per night. Moving right along.... I do need to get back to looking at places though, but I'll wind up with a good bit more flexibility since I only need 7 rooms

Very nice...they have a spot open near the end of June unbelievably and we're going up this weekend to take a look. The rooms are outrageously expensive ($230-500+ per night/2 night min) so I doubt most if any of our party could afford to actually stay there.

Just wanted to get anyone's feedback to see if there are any additional questions we should ask them while we're there that we might not consider.
