New England backpacking areas areas
Me and a few buddies want to go on a weekend hike some time in april.. living in CT it would be nice to find a good spot nearby.. any suggestions?

Hey what part of Ct are you guys in? I am near Old Saybrook. I haven't done much backpacking in CT but there is alittle check out CTXguide.com it has all of the longer trails in CT.

I usually go to the Catskills, ADKs, Whites or other places to get some good distance hikes in, depending on where in CT you are the Catskills are only 3 hours and offer some great hikes.

CFPA
Buy the Connecticut Walk Book (Western edition) from CFPA (Connecticut Forest and Park Assoc). You can order from them or pick it up in most EMS/REI?outdoor typ shops.


It has just been released. All GPS co-ordinated. Beautiful hiking guide. Just won an award from some outdoor organization for quality.


CFPA maintains the 800+ miles of Blue blazed trails in the CT.
