Yup. Gonna be a doozy. Locked everything down tight and moved everything indoors. I like a good storm.

the other night we had substained winds of 75 mph.....just another normal storm around here. This is why I can't grow anything tall in my garden LOL!
You get used to dodging pieces of roofing blowing around when you drive through town after a while.
And this is why 2" of snow turns into a 4 foot drift at my front door.

Its a storming in Northern CA. Winds only around 40/45 mph right now, expecting higher later tonight. Raining like a bad dog. I5 was closed much of the day. Blizzard warning all around us, we're in the high wind warning area. Ya need chains to go pretty much anywhere but south.

Way cool!

Got the bathtub is full of water, brought in plenty of fire wood, headlamps and flashlights placed all around the house....we be ready.

They're calling for up to 5' of snow on Mount Shasta and a chance of snow in Redding by Sunday.

I'm giddy with anticipation :-)

Power came back on last night, don't know how long that will last.

They just said one peak in CA recorded a wind gust of 163. mph. Damn.

The only direction you can leave Redding without chains is South. Some areas got over 7" of rain. Lots of roads closed, including I80.

Coverage is good for skiing now, LOL.

Hey SC/ZC/Free...tell your friends to shut power down to everything. Don't just turn it off, pull the plugs, especially anything with a motor, like the refrigerator.

It sounds like they lost a leg on the transformer or the line to the house. (my terminology may be off, it's been a few years since my lineman days) Low power like that can burn up motors.

Also a good idea to un-plug any sensitive devices, ie., computers, etc., if there is power fluctuating on & off. The reason being it's very easy for power surges to occur & you don't want a spike hitting your PC!

This is also a good time to think about spending that extra $1.00 for a power strip that has surge protector built in, it can save you hundreds of $$ down the road! :)
