I realize "I" said that. My point being that "they" wouldn't say that he was "well-spoken" at all, unless he was black, which he is. Just like they said Condi Rice is well-spoken. Just like they said Bill Cosby is well spoken. Just like they say Will Smith is well spoken. "They" don't say that about white people because "they" generally assume that it's "normal" for them to be well spoken. This isn't a conscious decision, it's just the reality of people's bias. And, I'm not necessarily criticizing their bias - I think that's a natural factor in our social-system at this present day, I'm just saying that it should be kept in context "why" people are saying it when they decide it's a reason to elect a President.”

Oh, In fact I almost said that white people are often said to be "good speakers", that I totally agree with. It's very rare for them to be said "well-spoken" though. It's a subtle, but distinct difference, which if you acknowledge the history of racism in our country and how it's affected our perceptions, you'd see the distinction.
