My thread deals with ALL candidates. :-)” 9:33:29 PM 1/03/08 “Oh, I thought they both do since Obama has to compete against the others to win.” 9:36:24 PM 1/03/08 “I don't like either one. Obama is socialist and Huckabee is socialist lite. And they both have funny names. One sounds like a terrorist and one sounds like a cartoon character.” 2:20:54 AM 1/04/08 “Oprah really came through for Hussein.” 5:03:19 AM 1/04/08 “i still don't understand how people think he has the necessary experiance to be president” 5:19:56 AM 1/04/08 “No kidding. Jimmy Carter arguably had more relevant experience, and look how he turned out.” 5:23:33 AM 1/04/08 “"I don't like either one. Obama is socialist and Huckabee is socialist lite." Joe McCarthy says, what?” 5:24:51 AM 1/04/08 “You know we all need to take a moment and give a quick prayer to what or who ever we believe in (Marky mark call the wife) for protection for one man...the man right now facing a challenge more difficult than keeping Slick Willie out of Hooters...of course I talk about the Secret Service Agent in charge of Obama's Security detail. I hope he is up to it...but when Thunderthighs gets a look at this they may be clearing a spot in Fort Marcie park.” 6:47:10 AM 1/04/08 “Experience, eh? Would you say that's been the key to a successful presidency in the past? What about that guy who had all that experience....in Hollywood? Seems to me most would say he had a pretty good run as president. Then there's that guy who spent decades in Congress, but still ended up pardoning Nixon. Experience is overrated. Wasn't the rallying cry just a short time ago about the evils of "career politicians"? Relax. Maybe if Obama is elected he'll pick a Dick Cheney-type as VP who will make all the important decisions behind the scenes.” 6:56:04 AM 1/04/08 “let me qualify, i'm not talking about the lenth of experiance, i'm talking about the type...ummm, reagan was a governer, and that's exactly the KIND of EXECUTIVE experiance i'm talking about” 7:01:35 AM 1/04/08 “Not only did he just become a (junior) senator in 2004, but he's spent almost all of that time campaining.” 7:04:01 AM 1/04/08 “Geez XL Panties, you didn't mention "socialism"! Are you FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELING OK?” 7:04:41 AM 1/04/08 “...and he practically fell into that position” 7:04:47 AM 1/04/08 “YEEE HAWWW! Jimmy Carter was a governor, too. Wasn't somebody just bìtchin' about how terrible he was?” 7:07:45 AM 1/04/08 “dang, you really punch a hole in that theory with your one example” 7:11:46 AM 1/04/08 “4 more years!” 7:12:38 AM 1/04/08 “LOL, sadly i voted for him twice, but i don't think a 3rd time would be a charm” 7:16:04 AM 1/04/08 “Crash Bang, lizsbaby needs to be taught how to not start new threads, when there is an older one. ;-)” 7:16:39 AM 1/04/08 “Plain and simple: people are sick of the political machine in D.C. and the ingrained career politicians. They want someone who hasn't been heavily tainted by lobbyist bribes or beholden to special interests. I think this is exemplified by Iowa. However, if you look at the numbers, Huckabee got nominated by the evangelicals, much like Obama got nominated by the youth who are sick of white old men running the show. Kleetn hit the nail on the head. Really, what does political experience have to do with anything these days? It didn't do jack for the current dimwits in the White House. I will concut that Thrifty has a point about executive experience and here, Huckabee has a leg up on Obama. Bottom line, this election is gonna pretty different because I think people are sick of the typical retreads getting into office, and especially the Clinton/Bush dynasties.” 8:26:00 AM 1/04/08 “This is a thread on the IOWA CAUCUS. Not a rehashed and rehashed thread. Stovey > did you get your Christmas package? (I'm sure "package" will make people snicker, ;-P) Never heard nuthin' from ya!” 8:30:27 AM 1/04/08 “Stovey > did you get your Christmas package? *snicker*” 8:32:45 AM 1/04/08 “Putting policy aside, America seems to vote for the man they can most 'see' as President. At the moment, to me, that man seems to be Obama. But that picture could be tarnished in coming months depending on how he handles the attacks.” 8:33:05 AM 1/04/08 “i feel most comfortable with a candidate who has shown how he/she will act in high pressure situations...think of something like 911, plug in your favorite candidate and imagine (truthfully) how he/she might react...or maybe a veto situation, a controversial bill barely passes the house and senate do to lobbying and special interest...does your candidate have what it takes to let the ax fall (hypothetical question for all candidates, not just obama) obama may have this, but the question is how would we know...there's no track record there to go on last edited: 1/04/08 8:37:35 AM” 8:33:49 AM 1/04/08 “I don't know but as a public speaker, Obama is pretty great to listen to.” 8:39:39 AM 1/04/08 “The point was made in analysis last night -again and again - the Obama's campaigning on change... and that people want change. As I noted on the other side, I grew up in Iowa and didn't see a black person in my community until I was in high school - and she was an exchange student. It's not prejudicial, it's just the way it was. And still is, somewhat. I'm proud that tihs "white breadbasket" Iowa selected a black man. I think it bodes well for Obama's campaign. He certainly represents change. As for myself, I haven't decided, but Obama was not on my radar. I thought he was the guy with the funny name and funny ears (heard him make fun of them on some late night talk show himself). In the past few weeks, the more I hear and learn, I found myself thinking, "He's different. Could be what we need." How many others is this occuring to? Apparently quite a few Iowans.... how many more? This campaign will be interesting. I feel it's the people you delegate your duties to that will help a president run the country. If you're good at delegating and have good people, you're in. However, you can't be an idiot at the core, not to name any current governing officials, ;-P. LOL!” 8:45:08 AM 1/04/08 “I don't know but as a public speaker, Obama is pretty great to listen to. Yes, he's a well spoken black man. Change? Change CAN be good, if it's smart change. This guy believes in negotiating and having talks with terrorists. That's not the kind of change that does anybody any good.” 8:48:24 AM 1/04/08 “i remember hearing him speak at the DNC in '04, he is definitely a good speaker” 8:49:02 AM 1/04/08 “You know who else was an EXCELLENT speaker? Hitler. He was one of the best.” 8:50:39 AM 1/04/08 “Yes, he's a well spoken black man. interesting choice of words” 8:52:00 AM 1/04/08 “Senators have a distinct problem of having a voting record on national issues. Governors have the advantage of basically touting education and state unemployment rates from their governor days, without having to take stands on national issues (like Huckabee recently calling for stricter border security to keep Pakistani terrorists from invading the U.S., or last month not even knowing the new National Intelligence Estimate had come out). More national scrutiny on both winners will be interesting in the coming weeks.” 9:11:35 AM 1/04/08 “interesting choice of words - thriftyhiker Indeed. That's my point. It's an interesting choice of words. It's a cold day in hell when a white person is said to be "well-spoken", unless they're like 5. As soon as a black person can speak without saying "yo, whassup?!" (Condi Rice), they're said to be "well-spoken". To me it's a shining example of a hidden bias to say that. (in case you didn't get the sarcasm) It would be nice if we could elect the man because he has principles or good ideas on how to run the country, not because he's "a well spoken black man". He's only half-black anyways, so they shouldn't be saying that. I think it's the nappy hair that gets people excited about his well-spokenness. If he had straight hair, they'd just think he was possibly a muslim and we could focus more on that. last edited: 1/04/08 9:21:14 AM” 9:18:41 AM 1/04/08 “In the past few weeks, the more I hear and learn, I found myself thinking, "He's different. Could be what we need." - Lizs What a profound criteria on which to select a president. This guy believes in negotiating and having talks with terrorists. That's not the kind of change that does anybody any good. - Sarge Yeah, much like Ron Paul. All we have to do is be nice and trade with the terrorists and they'll leave us alone. *snort*” 9:42:37 AM 1/04/08 “Did someone say "nappy?" Didn't that get that one slock jock in trouble?? LOL!” 9:44:09 AM 1/04/08 “Sarge, you're a well-spoken Neanderthal.” 9:44:31 AM 1/04/08 “What a profound criteria on which to select a president. Listening an learning? Yeah, only a dope would do that.” 9:46:15 AM 1/04/08 “"This guy believes in negotiating and having talks with terrorists." That's a sound bite statement and not true. Obama has said that he would propose direct talks with national leaders with whom the U.S. has disputes, such as the leader of Iran. This, rather than fear-mongering and threatening war on a country that seems to have given up on it's nuclear weapons program over four years ago.” 9:49:03 AM 1/04/08 “Yeah, much like Ron Paul. All we have to do is be nice and trade with the terrorists and they'll leave us alone. Have you paid any attention at all to what he wants to do with terrorists? He wants to go in and kill them, not negotiate with them.” 9:50:23 AM 1/04/08 “That's a sound bite statement and not true. The Iranian government supports terrorism, and even has directly attacked our U.S. troops, even very recently. What I said is true. last edited: 1/04/08 9:53:00 AM” 9:52:35 AM 1/04/08 “LOL - kill them with what? What he's going to kill is the military, and what's left of it will be busy sitting on the border. Bat-sh1t insane.” 9:52:42 AM 1/04/08 “MarkO Dumb: telling us Brak Obama won't negotiate with terrorists by telling us he's going to negotiate with terrorists (Iran).” 9:55:12 AM 1/04/08 “Mutt - How much of the military do you think he's going to get rid of? We already spend more on our military than the entire rest of the world, combined, on their militaries. We have a lot of waste. That doesn't mean he's going to pull a Clinton and strip useful programs, like our MI.” 9:57:58 AM 1/04/08 “Geez Sargie, at this very time Condo Rice is having high level talks with the Libyan government.” 9:59:29 AM 1/04/08 ““Geez Sargie, at this very time Condo Rice is having high level talks with the Libyan government.” Let me guess the outcome: total failure!” 10:06:05 AM 1/04/08 “Sarge and Mutt, you two monkeys are sound-biters.” 10:09:03 AM 1/04/08 “Sarge: 80%, according to his direct quote. There's absolutely NO WAY to do that by just cutting waste. You should really just drop that foolishness. I love these conversations: Mutt: Ron Paul said something stupid. Sarge: He didn't say that. Mutt: Here's the quote Sarge: That's not taking into account context Mutt: Here's a longer quote from him, including context Sarge: But that's not what he really means or wants to do. And...and...and he won't be able to do it anyway, yeah. You just don't want to understand! Stop with the personal attacks! *changes subject* or *runs away* LOL - Paulistinians are funny.” 10:09:43 AM 1/04/08 “I thought they were monkey pillow-biters!” 10:10:09 AM 1/04/08 “Libyans are terrorists, every stinkin' one of 'em just like Iranians.” 10:11:23 AM 1/04/08 “He's only half-black anyways, so they shouldn't be saying that. "they" didn't say that, you did..."they" said he's a well spoken man (no black adjective)...he's better spoken than the other canidates, regardless of race...when you use black when it's not relative to the comment it sounds like you're saying "he's a good speaker (despite) being black" now i agree, being a good speaker has nothing to do with being president” 10:13:33 AM 1/04/08
