"GATLINBURG - Lane closures will begin Monday along the Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge Spur (U.S. Highway 441) to allow repairs to the tunnel.

The construction is part of a $6.3 million contract to repave the 4.5-mile road, perform drainage, curb and culvert work and replace the tunnel's interior lights, according to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The work will continue into March 2009."

However for those of you who are...and come through Townsend...go across 321 to Wears Valley, cut across to Metcalf Bottoms and go in on River Road.”

“Might as well post this here too: Smokemont CG on the Cherokee side is closed at least through the end of February, so they can replace all of the water and sewer lines in the cg. And boy do they need it.”
