“I have debated posting this thread. And am sorry to do so.


I dislike vesting this much "real life" (as opposed to virtual life) energy into trailtalk.


However.


I have noticed a trend that bothers me, and I am not sure how to remedy it. Recently two and perhaps three threads about rather serious "real life" stuff have been crapped up by Sarge's grandstanding and attention grabbing antics and by people responding to them.

The two threads I am specifically referencing are one of the Bearmagnet threads, and the Depression thread.

I found it particularly depressing (hahaha) that folks who could vent their spleen, commiserate and otherwise find solice in the Depression thread, for thousands of posts, were subjected to yet another "sarge Show". I certainly contributed to the mess.

Someone, somewhere (i think on the bearmagnet thread) suggested that Sarge was looking to hijack the thread in his need to be the focus of attention.

I don't pretend to know what drives him. Nor do I care. But if he is determined to hijack threads that others turn to for solice, it seems a shame to engage him.

by posting this I am not trying to allocate blame. I am trying to identify what I see as an unfortunate trend and bring it to your attention.

It just seems a shame (to me) to allow such an A-hole to crap up threads that people (real people as opposed to virtual people) care about.

It is precisely because Sarge doesn't seem to care where he craps, that I felt the need to post this thread.

In fact, it seems to me that he is deliberately crapping on the threads that real people care most about (hence my opinion of him sinking to its lowest point).

1) Thanks for capturing what I had deleted in edit. I deleted it after reading Bacpacs post about not taking the funhouse too seriously.

It is the folks who are using certain threads for real life purposes that I am concerned about. This is usually just a virtual funhouse to me. But I am sorry to have contributed to the degradation of certain threads that probably meant more to others than me.

Exactly. I'm glad you came to realize this. Seriously. I did the same thing. When I started on this board I let sarge have it a few times and I would get worked up until I realized how silly I was being. I reminded myself that I was here to have fun and meet people and it's been great ever since. Sure, I mix it up with others from time to time, but I don't take it too seriously. And I have no problems with sarge at all.
Hopefully others here will realize they are just as much a part of it as sarge is. Many perpetuate the "problem" and either don't think they do, pretend they don't, or do but just don't care.”

Actually, this thread was addressed to me, among others.

For anyone in doubt, check the depression thread - but here is what the guy who hollers about personal insults had to say to me in the absence of any personal remarks from me:
