I bet you said that when Clinton left office too, didn't you?

EarthnSky, two things: First, you can try to blame Bush solely for Iraq if you want, but in order to do so you have to totally ignore the overwhelming vote of support he got from Congress. And one cannot just say "well Bush lied and fooled them into voting for it" because that indicates that Congress is populated completely by mindless automatrons too stupid to formulate their own conclusions (which may be true, but then makes Bush no worse than the rest of them).

Secondly, and more interesting because we're all tired of the "Bush lied people died" chant of the sheeple:
I'm not sure Edwards dropping out and endorsing Obama would really give Obama a whole lot of momentum. Edwards has run a distant third from the start, and has proven for two elections now that he doesn't have what it takes to motivate or inspire voters. After all, if one wants to listen to an ambulance chaser, he only has to turn on the TV and watch a few commercials.

Hyway is right about this election--SSDD.

Vote for Obama and things won't get any better, vote for McCain and things will only get very slightly better.

Anyway, if Obama is it, I'll definintely go with him. I think he will blow McCain outta the water. However, I'm gonna be watching tonight's Dem debate and that will probably solidify my position.

Rosey... Shillary... or Billary... or Monica Lewinsky's Ex-Boyfriends Wife.... is very beholden to the war machine... I think she'd be far better than McInsane, but she is such a corporate whore I can't imagine voting for her...
BUT, if she gets the nomination, she'll get my vote... At least with her, we know what we're getting.

I'm hoping Obabma gets the nom... We don't know as much about him and that may bite us in the butt... but, at least he represents something new/different... and he (IMHO) has to potential to really reach out and bring a lot of us together... (rose colored glasses?)

"Serious question but wrong thread, I know: What's the beef with Romney? Is it the religion thing or something else?"

Romney is the traditional flip-flopper. Even yesterday, he commented to a contributor to the CNN panel that he opposes gay marriage, but approves of gay rights. He placates to what ever side will hear him. The religious thing is obviously an issue with the Republican base.

Romney likes to claim that he is an "outsider", yet he is a pillar of big business. When I think of Romney, I think DeVos.

Besides, Big Rush tells the elites and little people that Romney is no good. If Rush don't aint's likes him, how could any Republicans?

This guy is worse than John Kerry. The Dems would love for the Republicans to send that sucker up for nomination.

I didn't expect anything less from the Gov., but the reality is we are a blue state.

The gov is married to a Kennedy and probably won't be getting any for a while, even tho his wife knows he had to do it to save face among the party. He votes a pretty centrist line.

That's great! Everyone in my generation is pretty much gonna have to be a millionaire when they retire in order to live a comfortable life.

However, that does not change that I do not fully (and blindly) support my president no matter what. to do so is against everything this country was founded on. If our founders had all thought the way you do, we could still be a colony.

Reference above from Rosey is to our Governator who is scheduled to endorse McCain today.

The reason McCain is the leading candidate is that he's not a radical... call him a "centrist" if you like, to me that's a compliment! I couldn't imagine anyone with an IQ above room temperature voting for an extremist candidate from either party... anyone who exclusively follows a party line (Dem or Rep party) is not someone worth your vote...

NOW MISTER EARTHNSKY/ you stated that you would not vote for McCain just recently as today, but this is what you said a few days ago...

my choices for president, as follows:
1. Obama
2. McCain (although, his hardlined position on Iraq sucks and I hope a democratic congress would get us out of Iraq, finally).
3. Hillary.. god she scares me.
4. there is no 4.

Are you representing the DEM and telling us you have changed your mind....or did you just forget...

no, I read into some more of McCain's positions and specifically, his 100 year war in Iraq and I would now vote for Hillary before McCain. If I were to vote republican, which is unlikely, but if I were, I would vote for Ron Paul before any of the others. Ron Paul has no chance. In the event of a McCain and Hillary race, I will vote green party.

In my opinion, the war in Iraq is jepordizing our freedom rather than preserving it. No disrespect to our military fighting over there, but I disagree with ever going there in the first place.

now, if I were to thru hike... I'd easily be a north bounder. I'd want to be in New England in the fall and the Smokies and Roans in the spring.

I agree with you EarthNsky but the Democrats fully backed Pres Bush after 911 and give him a budget with no strings attatched... so all and BOTH parties are guilty. We have made some serious mistakes and now it is time to come up with a solution rater than point thy finger. But hell it's politics isn't it.... they will never fix it, until we all AMERICANS stand up and say no more,,, but we will not because we are lost sheep being led by the RICH and Plotical Powerful....

Frig -- the Dems did not Fully back Bush after 9/11. Let's be fair here. There were a few that voted against the war. The Dem controlled Congress has many times attempted to pass funding bills that would require a timetable withdrawal, or strings attached. All of those have been struck down by Bush. The Dems did not have majority in Congress until just very recently. When the Dem tried to fillabuster bad funding bills, or any bill for that matter, Frist threaten a suspension of the Senate rules in order to back door the fillabuster, something no party has done in a very long time.

In short, I do not think that what your opinion reflects is as clear cut and dried. It's easy to be general, but everyone must work a little on both sides to see just ho deep the crap is that both sides have been shoveled.
