A couple of our least 'experienced' Presidents were Abraham Lincoln (who won the Civil War) and JFK.” 11:54:09 AM 3/13/08 “Wanderer, I really like the non-fuego way you worded that post. We need more of that around here (from me too). Thanks” 12:34:07 PM 3/13/08 “What ki0eh said! And Lincoln came from Illinois too. And JFK won Illinois (with a little help from Mayor Richard Daley and his magic abacus). last edited: 3/13/08 12:34:23 PM” 12:37:19 PM 3/13/08 “Ah.... Back to normal! What's his middle name again?” 12:41:25 PM 3/13/08 “The trouble with Senata records is that's it is a double-edged sword. In there too briefly and you have no experience (Obama) In there too long and you'll have your voting record pulled apart (Kerry) - and as has happened with McCain - at this stage by the conservatives. Also I'm not sure that any experience can really prepare you for being the most powerful man in the world.” 12:45:28 PM 3/13/08 “the most powerful man in the world. Not sure how much longer that is gonna last, or even if it is true... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080313/ap_on_bi_ge/diving_dollar” 12:50:28 PM 3/13/08 “BTW, Hillary's middle name is Diane! McCain's middle name is Sidney! Has Homeland Security been notified??” 1:00:54 PM 3/13/08 “The borrowed dollar redefines the term ' to tank', and the wildfire foreign spending is the one to thank. Let's see his name in Ron ah-ah-ah some other first name?” 1:07:41 PM 3/13/08 “Barack Obama’s church, the Trinity United Church of Christ, has released a statement: Obama’s church accuses media of character assassination. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0308/9062.html “Character assassination,” in this case, being defined as “reporting Rev. Wright’s statements accurately.” I wonder if vile and ol' tiltypoo still think this racist is wonderfull? I'm making more popcorn! LOL” 8:40:02 PM 3/16/08 “A vote for Obama is a vote for McCain. His "vote for change" is the same slogan as Carter's...and we see where that got us. Looks like I am back to voting 3rd party again...maybe.” 4:52:28 AM 3/17/08 “a vote for 3rd party is a vote for obama/clinton.” 5:04:14 AM 3/17/08 “Has a third party ever won the electoral college votes??? After the 2000 U.S. presidential election, just about everybody in the United States was talking about the Electoral College. In the end, of course, Gore won the popular vote (more Americans voted for him), but Bush actually won the presidency, because he was awarded the majority of the votes in the Electoral College. How the Electoral College Works by Kevin Bonsor last edited: 3/17/08 5:14:31 AM” 5:17:06 AM 3/17/08 “Here are the four elections when the candidate who led the popular vote did not win the office: * 1824: John Quincy Adams, the son of former President John Adams, received more than 38,000 fewer votes than Andrew Jackson, but neither candidate won a majority of the Electoral College. Adams was awarded the presidency when the election was thrown to the House of Representatives. * 1876: Nearly unanimous support from small states gave Rutherford B. Hayes a one-vote margin in the Electoral College, despite the fact that he lost the popular vote to Samuel J. Tilden by 264,000 votes. Hayes carried five out of the six smallest states (excluding Delaware). These five states plus Colorado gave Hayes 22 electoral votes with only 109,000 popular votes. At the time, Colorado had been just been admitted to the Union and decided to appoint electors instead of holding elections. So, Hayes won Colorado's three electoral votes with zero popular votes. It was the only time in U.S. history that small state support has decided an election. * 1888: Benjamin Harrison lost the popular vote by 95,713 votes to Grover Cleveland, but won the electoral vote by 65. In this instance, some say the Electoral College worked the way it is designed to work by preventing a candidate from winning an election based on support from one region of the country. The South overwhelmingly supported Cleveland, and he won by more than 425,000 votes in six southern states. However, in the rest of the country he lost by more than 300,000 votes. * In 2000, Al Gore received 50,992,335 votes nationwide and George W. Bush received 50,455,156 votes. After Bush was awarded the state of Florida, he had a total of 271 electoral votes, which beat Gore's 266 electoral votes. Today, a candidate must receive 270 of the 538 votes to win the election. In cases where no candidate wins a majority of electoral votes, the decision is thrown to the House of Representatives by virtue of the 12th Amendment. The House then selects the president by majority vote with each state delegation receiving one vote to cast for the three candidates who received the most electoral votes. Here are the two elections that were decided by the House of Representatives: * 1801: Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr, both Democrat-Republicans, received the same number of electoral votes, despite the fact that Burr was running as a vice presidential candidate, not for the presidency. Following 36 successive votes in the House, Jefferson was finally elected president. * 1825: As mentioned above, Andrew Jackson received a majority of the popular vote over John Quincy Adams, but neither man received a 131-vote majority of electoral votes needed at the time to claim the presidency. Adams won the House vote on the first ballot.” 5:22:57 AM 3/17/08 “A vote for a 3rd party is a message to the two parties to get their acts together before this country falls completely apart.” 5:24:01 AM 3/17/08 “Has there ever been a 3rd party President??” 5:29:18 AM 3/17/08 “A vote for anything other than a third party is a validation of the status quo and you know in time where that'll go. If you think this consumer based spend and borrow junk festival of government subsidized excess is your cup of tea, turn on the lights, you're drinking your own pee.” 5:35:46 AM 3/17/08 “Obama has spoken out against the divisive comments of his Pastor. What has John Sidney McSame had to say about the comments of Pastor John Hagee who called the Catholic Church "The Great Whore" an "apostate church" and a "false cult system"?” 6:29:42 AM 3/17/08 “Spoken out against? ... and that somehow superceedes the fact that he attended that church for 25 years - AND used that pastor for performing personal family church ceremonies? Just curious, did McCain go to Hagee's church? Is he a follower? ... If not, I wonder why Obama didn't speak out against those comments my Hagee. By the way, the Catholic Church is a false cult system. Those aren't political statements against the United States of America, the very country Obama wants to LEAD. Very scary thoughts about Obama and his system of beliefs ... last edited: 3/17/08 6:34:44 AM” 6:38:34 AM 3/17/08 ““Has there ever been a 3rd party President??” divinity Teddy Roosevelt-Progressive Party” 6:48:48 AM 3/17/08 “Obama needs to speak out against his America-hating wife, too.” 6:50:42 AM 3/17/08 7:26:31 AM 3/17/08 “Typical violin. No apology or sense of shame. Instead, he's gone with his fake "look over there!" approach. Next we'll get the old "Blacks CAN"T be racist crap" he and the usual dim far lefties use. last edited: 3/17/08 7:43:08 AM” 7:47:04 AM 3/17/08 “Divinity- Abraham Lincoln was the first third party President (and first Republican President). I know it sounds odd now that the Republican party is one of the two big parties but at the time it was a "third" party. Teddy Roosevelt was also a third party candidate for the Bull Moose Party in 1912 but he lost that election.” 8:03:55 AM 3/17/08 “Vile baby, being a good Anti Semite yourself...maybe you can tell us JUST HOW FAR...Obama is going to distance himself from Rev Wright? Lets see...he has...OH MY he has left the CHURCH to be an ADVISOR to Obama....OH until he got caught...(LOL)” 8:11:55 AM 3/17/08 “Typical violin. No apology or sense of shame. - stovestomper It's tunnel vision. Obama supporters support obama because they have an emotional investment in "change" and "diversity". It doesn't matter how sleazy and racist he and his crew is. His supporters see what they want to see, and contrast that with their pathological hatred of Bush. He could torture animals for fun and they wouldn't care. This is why his platform is platitude heavy and detail light. People like violin simply don't care. All they want is a Not-Bush, and Obama delivers. last edited: 3/17/08 8:14:16 AM” 8:18:14 AM 3/17/08 “Obama's racist "church" sold DVDs of their "preacher" spewing his hate, along with the congregation cheering him on. Obama's "preacher" did his own character assassination.” 8:21:39 AM 3/17/08 “Obama chose this Pastor to be included in his sphere of influence. That concerns me and makes me question his judgment.” 8:22:34 AM 3/17/08 “let me get this straight, Obama is saying: 1) I've attended this church for 20 years. I picked it because it ressonated with me as "my kind of church" 2) This pastor married me, and baptised my kids 3) We think Jesus was black. By inference, so too should have been King David, Abraham (who came from Iraq), Isaac, and Jacob. 4) I didn't have a clue my pastor was a racist until I heard a tape of a sermon I missed. 5) That was his only racist talk. It came completely out of the blue. Who saw that coming? 6) When my church gave an award to Louis Farakan, I didn't think it odd. I thougth Hymietown was a real place. 7) I don't know why my wife had no pride in this country until this year. 8) I didn't figure out my pastor in 20 years, but will have Putin's number in mere moments. 9) I hardly knew this pastor, who has now been forced to resign from my advisory board.” 9:24:57 AM 3/17/08 “You might also add to your list that this minister was excluded from giving the invocation at the ceremony when Obama announced his candadicy for president.” 9:29:56 AM 3/17/08 “ ”9:41:20 AM 3/17/08 “Perhaps Mr. MarkO has no problem with all this. Probably not...” 9:45:55 AM 3/17/08 “Go ahead Prob, make up anything you like and attribute it to me...........you probably will.” 9:50:08 AM 3/17/08 “Few far far lefties do, NoProb. They have never let a fact bother them before.” 9:50:28 AM 3/17/08 “A preacher finally says something that hints of truth and you all start looking for bus keys. The Scrub picked Chick Deney, fools. last edited: 3/17/08 9:50:59 AM” 9:50:34 AM 3/17/08 “Gee, sorry about that, marky. I guess that I looked at the picture you posted and thought it meant you disapproved of people expressing their opinions about Obama's apparent lack of honesty. Guess I must have been wrong. What was the purpose of posting that picture?” 9:57:49 AM 3/17/08 “You people have to resort to the old ; my liars better than yours?” 9:59:00 AM 3/17/08 “facts, facts, damn those cursed facts!” 10:00:19 AM 3/17/08 “Express away, Problamo. Picture speak for itself. Wellies optional.” 10:03:09 AM 3/17/08 “The facts are; We have three potentials for president that are far worse than any of us could have found in a homeless community search.” 10:20:23 AM 3/17/08 “You mean Obama, Hillary, and Bill? I think you are right. Four counting Chelsea. I'm going to give my support to Obama until he subdues Billary, then I'm switching to Nader, till the actual moment I drop the lever, then its McCain.” 10:33:48 AM 3/17/08 “Selebored, add Ron Paul in, and you're basically right.” 10:35:29 AM 3/17/08 “mArKo DumBo is the person that explained to me that "Black people can not be racists". LOL” 10:39:59 AM 3/17/08 “Wow - that's not just dumb, that's Mark-O Dumb!” 10:43:47 AM 3/17/08 “http://americanhistory.si.edu/ourstoryinhistory/admin/images/tryathome/pic_01.jpg ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 10:44:38 AM 3/17/08 “That last picture says it all.” 10:55:12 AM 3/17/08 “I wonder if that Obama Moslem Devil rant was ever printed out and given to those scouts. Woops! I forgot. They can't be Moslem Devils because you can't be Scout without publicly professing your undying love for Jesus on a regular basis. Have you told them that part yet?” 11:19:49 AM 3/17/08 “There goes ol' tiltypoo with the "Look over there!" defense, on schedule.” 11:22:41 AM 3/17/08 “the scouts are a private organization Who here would take away their freedoms, if given the chance?” 11:23:10 AM 3/17/08 “That's incorrect Tilt. You do not need publically profess to or believe in Jesus to be a Scout.” 11:23:21 AM 3/17/08 “He doesn't need to because you are wrong.” 11:24:03 AM 3/17/08 Jump to Page << prev
