Too Old, Too Senile, Too Corrupt
A Developer, His Deals and His Ties to McCain

Donald R. Diamond, a wealthy Arizona real estate developer, was racing to snap up a stretch of virgin California coast freed by the closing of an Army base a decade ago when he turned to an old friend, Senator John McCain.

Bush and Rove said some nasty things about McCain 8 years ago. So were they correct or was the Bush team lying?

Prosecutor I think maybe you're the best one to deal with issues of lies and truth.

McCain has several skeletons in his closet---some well known and damaging. Doesn't hurt to point them out no matter who the candidate is. This is Obama's thread so Obama shouldn't be exempt from the same scrutiny.

Rock on, Noncon.

McCain is a fine one to call Obama an "elitist" with his wealth, property and connections to the ruling class.

I don't think that having wealth and property makes one an elitist. Looking down on other people makes one an elitist, in my opinion.

It seems that Obama was sympathizing with and not looking down upon people who feel "left out".
He was stating the truth and many Americans can't handle the truth, especially if they can use it against a politician whom they despise.

The "elitist" label was applied to Obama by those who are looking for any and all mud to sling.

So what is he now?
"elitist"
"racist"
Come on, did I miss anything?
I don't follow the "main stream media" so it's hard to keep up with the latest trash talk.

Elitism
The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources.

The sense of entitlement enjoyed by such a group or class.
Control, rule, or domination by such a group or class.

But MarkO, I thought we weren't playing the guilt by association game? You guys brushed away Obama's associations with a racist pastor and a known terrorist as poppy-cock and now here you are trying to discredit McCain with associations.

What gives?

Slingin' mud is the name of the political game!

I would have to agree with that definition of elitism.

Did you just fall off the turnip truck?

And this is not merely "association", it is very much like bribery.

Oh, now Obama is a "terrorist"??
See, I just don't watch enough TV.

Obama is "associated" with a religious mouth-piece who has a big mouth.

McCain has granted favors for true elitists who have gained great wealth by means of such favors.
McCain is much wealthier for being a U.S. Senator.
I suppose graft and bribery are now "legal".

Having wealth and property certainly does make one an elitist and so does looking down upon others for intellectual or social status.

So are Gore and Clinton elitists because they have money? I don't think so.

Having money AND looking down upon others makes you an elitist. Like I said, I agree with the definition you provided.

No MarkO I didn't just fall off the turnip truck. I stayed on it and ran the damn thing into the ditch! LOL!

Apparently you did just fall off the turnip truck though as you seem to find some type of surprise that a politician exchanges favors for deals. this has been going on since the Romans ruled the world.

Oh, now Obama is a "terrorist"??
See, I just don't watch enough TV.

I didn't say he is a terrorist. His friend Bill Ayers IS though.

so the two people who are running for President (presuming that Hillary will be out soon), have controversial pastor's in their life.

Does McCain think Catholics are whores and that New Orlean's deserved Katrina because of the high gay population? Unlikely. So calling Obama a racist is ridiculous. Saying that Obama is an elitist is taking his comments out of context. Obama made the comment, but he didn't mean it in a condescending way, but it was easily construed in a condescending way and it was his own fault for using the words that he did, but the truth of the matter is that the media and Obama's opponents have tried to make too much out of a small deal. People largely could care less about that comment and have mostly moved on.

Obama has made it this far because of his reputation for being articulate, well spoken. And people hanging on his every word. At one point he used the phrase "words mean things", when criticizing someone else. So people who take his words to mean something would seem to have a pretty good basis.

I think if he made the statement in front of a Pennsylvania audience, my guess is that nobody would have given it a second thought. But saying it in front of a bunch of limosine liberals at a high dollar fund raiser in San Francisco sure makes it sound like he's putting down the people in PA.

Obama, will be speaking at a "town hall" meeting within walking distance of my wife's office. She is going to try to get tickets for it. She is one of those that has been blinded by his message of change and since she read his book I assume she has some basis for her opinion other than his campaign packaging.

Today, all the major media has been running Reverend Wright recent speech where Wright says, "Africans and African-Americans are right-brained, subject-oriented in their learning style. They have a different way of learning."

Imagine if white Senator Biden publicly argued that black people have different brains. He would be crucified by the media as a racist.

I submit that Reverend Wright does advocate racist ideas. I also submit that it must be hubris that Reverend Wright continues to make the news with his speeches keeping the 20 year close relationship with Obama in the minds of the undecided voters. That photo of Wright and Obama is a classic and I'm sure we will see a lot more of it.

I look forward to Reverend Wrights frequent speeches this summer and fall.
